First Welly, then Razor, now Tucks???

I'm happy and sad right now. I'm glad to see the Leafs management FINALLY make some moves for the team to improve it. I'm looking forward to this offseason.

I'm pretty sad because Tucker, in case some of you didn't know, was the heart and soul of the Leafs, Welly was expected to be a franchise player for the Leafs before he was waived, and Razor, well tough break on this kid, one bad year and he's booted like that.

Tucker's not worth 3 mil a year. The Leafs are doing the right thing.

I'm just saying exactly what I said. I'm glad this organization is finally getting off their asses and doing something about this team. Trust me I'm more happy than sad right now. I look forward to this team FINALLY making the playoffs this year.

Hossa signed a one-year contract with Detroit on Wednesday, and a person in the NHL told The Associated Press the deal is worth $7.45 million.

He had rebuffed a chance to re-sign with the Pittsburgh Penguins, who were reportedly offering $7 million a season as part of five-year contract after they lost the Stanley Cup finals to Detroit last month.

"It was a really tough decision for me to make," Hossa said. "When I compared the two teams, I felt like I would have a little better of a chance to win the Cup in Detroit."

The high-scoring winger was one of the key players who helped Pittsburgh advance to the Stanley Cup finals, which they lost to Detroit in six games.

With Hossa headed for Detroit, the most highly coveted forwards left on the free agent market are Jaromir Jagr and Mats Sundin. Sundin isn't close to signing with anyone, and said Wednesday he needs more time to decide where, or if, he wants to play next season.

What is it that the Leafs have done that has you expecting them to make the playoffs?

I mean look, I'm as big a Jeff Finger fan as the next guy (joking. I am not, in fact, a Jeff Finger fan), but that's the big pick up?

I'm just choked that Montreal missed out on Hossa.

Leafs will not make the playoffs, but they are at least finally heading in the right direction for a change. Fletcher as much as he didn't go out to try and get the "big fish", has gotten this franchise on a road to recovery and signed decent players for reasonable contracts. None of these "No Trade" clause bullshit. I still hate the Leafs, but kudos for finally rebuilding this team the right way.

I like the move to re-sign Roszival and the signing of Redden for my Blueshirts.

I do like the acquisition of Zherdev and Fritche, but I'm not fond of trading away Tyutin... I think he's going to be a solid D-Man.

..and the Leafs ARE NOT making the playoffs this year. They should continue to suck and build up their farm.

I'm not saying this as a spiteful Sens fan, but have fun with Redden, Hoops. Grossly overrated and was again given a ridiculous contract. You'll feel my pain soon enough.

Good luck with Redden. He's had an awfull few seasons and is declining pretty quickly. They paid him way too much to get him.

Thank you .... glad someone else said that and it wasn't just me. I was furious 2 or 3 years ago when the Sens decided to keep Redden and not Chara, but knew that in order to keep Spezza, Heater and Alfie from a financial perspective we were in tight to keep Big Z.

Anyhow, Sens will likely either just slip into the playoffs or just miss them next season. Murray's done nothing to improve our weak defense other than rid ourselves on one of our worst defensemen for the last couple seasons in Redden. Good riddance Wade.

No offense to Gerber too because he did a helluva job last season in the playoffs considering he had no support from either his defensemen or forwards who forgot what back checking was, but goaltending will continue to be this franchise's achilles heal.

I'd rather have Redden than Mara.. and D-men always get overpaid on the open market - Aucoin, Campbell, Chara, Finger, Kubina, Gonchar, Hal Gill...fuck, even Ron Hainsey got a shitload of cash from Atlanta... so I see this as a small price to pay for a very good Dman.
