I don't get Senators at all... if they don't play better they will be out of playoffs real soon...

5 goals in 4 games. Wow.. And goal scoring wasn't supposed to be the Sens' achilles heel

Look for Spezza to get dealt for a #1 tender.

Goaltending wasn't the problem, in fact Gerber was the best player night in, night out. I wouldn't be mad if he's back next season. Emery is the one that needs to be shipped out.

Defense hurt us a ton. Sid and company made them all look like pilons. The only three defensemen I want back next season forsure are Volchenkov, Phillips and Lee. Mezaros will be dealt and Redden won't be offered anything to return. (thank god) If we re-signed Commodore for a decent contract I'd be happy to have him back, but I expect us to add a couple decent defensemen either via trade or free agency this summer.

Not scoring was unacceptable, but then again I can't take away the effort by Fleury and the Pens defensemen. They did an amazing job shutting us down.

The biggest question is who going to coach this team. No more stone-faced coaches in Ottawa. We need someone with an edge and emotional. Someone like a Milbury or Hartley. I think once we get a coach first, then we can see what pieces need to go and which ones they need to acquire.

If the Sens got Milbury, they'll be even more disfunctional. Hartley would do SO MUCH better.

And they got bit by the injury at the wrong time. Had Fisher, Neil, Kelly and Alfreddson been healthy, it probably would gone 6. I mean, the Sens still would have lost, but it wouldn't have looked as embarassing.

Alfie not being 100% hurt us the most. I heard on CBC last night after the game that he's been playing with a 3rd degree torn MCL. He definitely shouldn't be been out there playing. His season should of been over after the Leafs game where Bell rocked him.

spezza+volchenkov for phaneuf+lombardi

I'm a flames fan and I'd do that trade, but Sutter would definitely not do it.

Spezza with Iggy=60+ goal season

I'd deal Mezaros waaaaay before Volchenkov, but I'd love to acquire Phaneuf. Something tells me that "Iron Mike" wouldn't want to part with him though.

I doubt Calgary gives up Phaneuf, he's way too much of a fan favorite and proven cornerstone to build around.

"My plan is not to have him back," Murray told reporters.

This comes one day after Emery discussed his season with the media and stated that it was not his fault the team was eliminated from the post season. Emery also disputed the idea that he was a locker room “cancer”.

Although the Cayuga, Ontario native admits the season did not go the way that he wanted, he said he hopes to be a part of the team next year.

A buyout might be the most logical option for the Senators regarding their much maligned keeper. Emery is still owed two years and $6.75 million on the contract he signed last off-season after helping lead the Senators to the Stanley Cup final.

Just wondering Dr. J, has there been any legs to a Spezza for Luongo deal? My newspaper reported it as a rumor, though I don't know if it's legit or just the columnist fantasizing juicy deals for the offseason. Dunno, Vancouver's obviously not going to contend with just Luongo and the Sedins and Ottawa needs goaltending, so it'd kind of make sense, though it'd be a huge blockbuster.

I haven't heard anything here yet MVP. I think Paddock fucked up the goaltending tandem this season which did alot of damage to both Emery and Gerber. I was more than happy the way Gerber played after Murray took over again. So much that I'd welcome him back as the everyday starter next season. Our problem was injuries and defense. Our defense which was one of our staples last season was absolutely garbage during the 2nd half of the season. We need to pick up another couple decent defensemen this summer along with a couple new forwards and I think we'll be back on track. Believe it or not, I'm ready to ride Gerber next season.

The biggest question for here in Ottawa is who is going to coach this team? I think Murray's going to want to appoint someone before the June draft, so it will be interesting to see who they name.

Quinn's a nice fit.

Vancouver would be tits-up stupid to trade Luongo. We saw that when he gets some support how welll he can play. He basically willed the canucks into the 2nd round last year. If Vancouver really wants a top flight centre, sign Jeff Carter as a RFA and cough up the draft selections to Philly.
