exactly... the team they had a few years ago was very solid, and he had isaac bruce, torry holt, et al to lob it to.
now, his O line is bad and he doesnt have a reciever to save him. they are going to be bad for a loooong time.

He had over 1000 receiving yards in '99. I had him on my fantasy team and he pretty much carried my team to a championship.

Well that's not helping them now while they're getting their asses kicked on a weekly basis. Steven Jackson is wasting him prime years there. Garcia or Vick would not have cost them much. Vick wanted a starting job and he would have got one there. Vick could have made up for their lack of receiving talent with his feet.

Ha, ha yeah they did. I started playing it in 98/99 at Sandbox.net back when it was free to play there. It wasn't as fancy as Yahoo's setup with all the advice, information and analysis but it worked the same way. I was in high school then by the way.

Sandbox.net was superior to Yahoo then. Yahoo was just experimenting with it. It wasn't until Foxsports I believe, purchased sandbox that people left in droves.

As for St. Louis, I was expecting bigger things from Donnie Avery this season.

Southern California tailback Stafon Johnson is unlikely to play again this season after a falling weight bar crushed his neck and larynx.

The senior who scored the No. 7 Trojans' go-ahead touchdown against Ohio State two weeks ago was bench-pressing when the bar slipped from his right hand and fell onto his throat.

Johnson was in critical but stable condition late Monday night after more than seven hours of surgery, said Katreena Salgado, a spokeswoman for California Hospital Medical Center.

He was treated for crushing injuries to his neck as well as severe injuries to his larynx, said the hospital's trauma medical director, Dr. Gudata Hinika.

horrible story... i wish him a speedy and healthy recovery.
imagine how much pain that would be to be doing the bench press only to have your hand slip and have the bar fall right on your throat...
makes you think twice about putting on too much weight at the gym.... even with a spotter.
scary.

you cant blame the assistant coach.
spotters are there for one thing; to spot.
to make the lift easier when the lifter is tiring, to keep the form correct, and to assist in getting the bar back to the rack.
They are not there to carry all the weight or save the persons neck if the weight falls or their hand slips...
you honestly think if you're spotting someone with 3 plates on each side you'll be able to catch that weight? not a chance.
he's lucky he had a spotter... i'm sure the spotter grabbed enough of the bar to ease up on the weight that fell and then had enough strength to remove the weigh off his neck afterwards.

Dolphins get some insurance at QB

Quote:
The Miami Dolphins acquired quarterback Tyler Thigpen from the Kansas City Chiefs for an undisclosed draft pick on Tuesday.

The move is to have insurance behind Chad Henne, who likely will start in place of Chad Pennington. Pennington dislocated his right shoulder Sunday in a 23-13 loss to San Diego -- the same one that has been operated on twice before.

thigpen is young and they can develop him into their QB of the future possibly
I'm not sure Miami has a win now attitude and Garcia certainly isn't the last piece to them becoming a playoff team

nobody said anything about Garcia making them a playoff contender... its just a band-aid sollution until Pennington is back healthy.
Garcia doesnt get much respect around the league, which is a shame becuase he takes shitty teams and actually makes them better... he would have been a huge upgrade as their backup in miami... they dont lose much and he's pretty much a guy you can stick in at anytime and you wont really miss a step. Thigpen will come in and get hammered... he doesnt have the experience to help miami right now. And why would they get him for the future when Pennington is young and their main guy?
