Dungy: Vick Drinking Was Out Of Line

Tony Dungy isn't happy with Michael Vick's decision to drink in public.

"Michael, you can't do that," Dungy told SI.com of the quarterback, who he has mentored recently.

Vick was seen drinking vodka and pineapple juice in a Philadelphia airport bar in photos posted by the New York Post.

An Eagles spokesman said that drinking is "not in conflict with terms of his probation or reinstatement with the NFL."

San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, who has thrown for more than 10,000 yards over the past three seasons, has agreed to a new contract extension with the club.

he extension is for six years and is worth $92 million, a source told ESPN.com. About $38-39 million is guaranteed. More importantly, the deal will keep Rivers off the free-agent market next spring, and will preclude the Chargers from having to exercise a franchise designation to retain him. The extension comes amid reports that the Chargers would have a difficult time reaching an extension accord with Rivers, a first-round choice in the 2004 draft.

The thing that's funny is that there's a clause in the contract that allows him to skip the CFL partway through the season if an NFL team signs him.

What's the harm? Obviously the Blue Bombers thought there was no issue bringing him in.
If he helps the team, fantastic. If not, he gets benched or released.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) -- Adam "Pacman" Jones won't be playing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after all.

The CFL team announced Wednesday it has ended its pursuit of the controversial ex-NFL cornerback, one day after multiple reports said Jones would play for the team.

"It is unfortunate that this situation became public; however, our position has remained consistent," Blue Bombers coach Mike Kelly said in a statement. "We will pursue athletes that we believe will contribute to our organization on and off the field.

"We have completed our assessment and due diligence and at this time we will not be pursuing the services of Adam Jones."

Jones' attorney, Worrick Robinson, told The Associated Press on Tuesday he had been in "consistent negotiations" with a CFL team, but wouldn't say which one.

How 'bout them Cowboys? They're No. 1 in something even before the NFL season begins: total value.

The Cowboys are worth $1.65 billion, the most of any U.S.-based sports franchise, according to Forbes magazine's annual rankings. Only Manchester United of the English Premier League is worth more worldwide, $1.87 billion.

The Cowboys lead the rankings for the third straight year and are worth $100 million more than the runner-up Washington Redskins. New England is third at $1.361 billion, followed by the New York Giants ($1.183 billion) and Jets ($1.170 billion).

In all, 19 teams are worth at least $1 billion, with the biggest gainer in Forbes' rankings the Patriots, Chargers, Bills and Buccaneers, each at 3 percent.

Oakland has the least value, not even reaching half of Dallas' worth. The Raiders are worth $747 billion, down 7 percent from the previous year.

One of television's commercial properties is set to make its debut in the form of a league alongside a football legend on Friday, September 4, 2009 as the Lingerie Football League (or 'LFL') kicks-off its (20) week inaugural season featuring America's most beautiful and athletic women playing 7-on-7 tackle football at major arenas and stadiums on Friday nights as part of LFL, Friday Night Football.

What started out as a Super Bowl halftime counter-programming special has now turned into a year-round brand complete with a Fantasy Football Draft, Mini-Camps, Training Camps, Regular Season Games, Championship Game, and All-Star Game.

A new era in pro football will kickoff this Friday in Chicago at Sears Centre Arena with the premiere of LFL, Friday Night Football showcasing one game per week in a Game of The Week type format. Opening Night will feature all-day tailgate festivities and a clash amongst pre-season favorite Chicago Bliss hosting the Miami Caliente.

The LFL will be making several major announcements in relation to significant media, personality and ownership partnerships such as Mike Ditka. "Coach Ditka embodies the game of football and will be an invaluable asset to the LFL as we mature into a worldwide sports brand," said, Mitchell S. Mortaza, Founder & Chairman. Mike Ditka added, "Football has always been a large part of my life and passion, this an opportunity to be part of something truly special in its inception phase."

LFL, Friday Night Football's broadcast team will include longtime ESPN NFL Analyst Sean Salisbury, veteran Chicago Bulls play-by-play man Tom Dore and Maxim Hot 100 winner April Rose will serve as sideline reporter.

Fans not lucky enough to land tickets to LFL, Friday Night Football games can catch the games this season streaming LIVE on LFLUS.com, premiering Friday, September 4th. Single game viewing will cost $7.95 and season passes for $125.00. The broadcasts will also be distributed across select regional television stations as well as international television distributors.
