they also added kevin shaffer this off-season.

i'd be skeptical about their receivers, but their QB, running game (kevin jones also signed this summer), offensive line and tight end look pretty good.

Kevin jones didnt get the respect in detroit that he deserved...
he's big and fast and if he's given the oppurtunity, i think he will show his worth.
he and forte will be a formidable duo.

Damn, I was hoping the Ravens would sign Pace.

Chicago's O-Line isn't as good as Denver's, or are his offensive weapons. It's going to be fun to see how this plays out.

The guy is always injured. If they're gonna use Jones as a power back, he'll be gone in like 3 games.

NFL Fans won't like this

JOHN MADDEN ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT FROM BROADCASTING

Quote:
NEW YORK -- One of pro football's most recognized faces is retiring.

John Madden, the former Oakland Raiders head coach and longtime NFL broadcaster, announced Thursday he's stepping away from the broadcast booth.

"It's time," Madden said in a statement. "I'm 73 years old.

"My 50th wedding anniversary is this fall. I have two great sons and their families and my five grandchildren are at an age now when they know when I'm home and, more importantly, when I'm not.

"It's been such a great ride... the NFL has been my life for more than 40 years, it has been my passion, it still is. I still love every part of it, the travel, the practices, the game film, the games, seeing old friends and meeting new people... but I know this is the right time."

Madden has served as the game analyst for "NBC Sunday Night Football" since 2006. He has won an unprecedented 16 Emmy Awards over his 30-year broadcast career.

Prior to becoming a broadcaster, Madden was the head coach of the NFL's Oakland Raiders. He compiled an overall record of 103-32-7 and led the team to victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XI. He was inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.

Madden retired as Raiders coach in 1979 and started his broadcasting career at CBS later that year. Madden was the lead NFL analyst for FOX from 1994 to 2002 and the analyst for ABC's "Monday Night Football" for four years before he came to NBC Sports in 2006. He is the only person to work as the lead analyst for all four broadcast networks.

Madden's EA Sports video game "Madden NFL Football" is the No. 1 selling sports video game of all-time with more than 65 million copies sold since its release 20 years ago.

The Philadelphia Eagles have worked out an agreement in principle to acquire Buffalo Bills left tackle Jason Peters, according to multiple sources.

For Peters, the Bills will receive a first-round pick (the 28th selection in the round), a fourth-rounder in next weekend's draft and an undisclosed pick in 2010, according to a source.

Peters has been asked to fly to Philadelphia on Friday to meet with the Eagles, who have 12 draft choices including two first-round selections. Any trade would be contingent on Peters passing a physical, but it might also require Peters to agree to a contract extension.

Stafford is a lock at #1

yeah. supposedly he's available since he isn't a nose tackle and kansas is switching to a 3-4 defense. word is that he's part of the gonzo trade if the right players are available at the 24th. rumour has it atlanta will be giving up their 1st and 3rd for him. i wanted atlanta to get him last season over ryan - yeah, whatever haha. i'd be freakin happy if we ended up with him.

Brett Favre's agent Bus Cook reaffirmed Wednesday that the veteran quarterback has no plans to end his retirement now that the New York Jets have released him.

"He's retired, he doesn't have any desire to come back, and that's the way it is with Brett," Cook said. "He's mowing his grass. He's working on his farm. He enjoys that stuff."

Cook said he originally asked the Jets to release Favre after the season as just "the order of business. Brett wants to retire as a Packer and that's just part of it."

Favre could not be reached for comment. As Cook cracked, "He can't hear that phone on his tractor, anyway."

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints and the state of Louisiana have announced a new partnership that will continue the NFL team's commitment to the state through 2025 and also create a new Sports Development District.

The new deal includes Saints owner Tom Benson and his family purchasing and redeveloping the New Orleans Centre and Dominion Tower. The two properties, located next to the Louisiana Superdome, have sat largely dormant and in disrepair since Hurricane Katrina.

The new agreement was announced Thursday at a New Orleans news conference.

Gov. Bobby Jindal said that, compared to the current agreement with the Saints, the new deal will save the state more than $280 million over the next 17 years. Jindal said no new taxes will be required to fund the new agreement.

PITTSBURGH -- Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes, the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII, was arraigned Wednesday on a misdemeanor marijuana charge stemming from a traffic stop.

Holmes' attorney, Robert DelGreco Jr., appeared at the brief hearing, where charges were formally presented. Holmes didn't appear, nor was he required to do so.

Receptions: 55

Touchdowns: 5
DelGreco said he planned to challenge the constitutionality of the stop, but he didn't elaborate on that.

"I will be filing a suppression motion," DelGreco said. "That will be a public record, and we'll go from there."

Pittsburgh police said they found three marijuana-filled cigars in Holmes' car after pulling him over Oct. 23. Holmes was stopped because his car was similar to one that police were looking for in a drug sting.

Holmes was cooperative and alerted officers to the drugs, police said.

DelGreco has characterized the charge "as low as a grade a misdemeanor you can get." The penalty is up to 30 days of probation and a $500 fine, he said.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin deactivated Holmes for one game following the traffic stop. Holmes wasn't arrested and received a court summons, which is common with misdemeanor charges in Pennsylvania.

Holmes said he "learned a lot" from missing the game. Before the Super Bowl, Holmes told the media that he had dealt drugs for a year in his hometown of Belle Glade, Fla.

Holmes, a first-round draft pick out of Ohio State in 2006, has had two other run-ins with the law since the Steelers drafted him.

In June 2006, Holmes was charged with domestic violence in Columbus, Ohio. Those charges were dropped when the mother of one of his three children declined to help prosecute the case and prosecutors were assured that Holmes received anger-management and domestic-violence counseling through the NFL.

In May 2006, Holmes was arrested for disorderly conduct by Miami police, who later dropped the charges.

No trial date has been set on the recent charge against Holmes, but a pretrial conference was scheduled for May 22 in Allegheny County Court.

Charleston Hughes, linebacker from last years Calgary Stampedes team that won the Grey Cup, has just signed with Philadelphia Eagles. He is gonna bring a lot of veteran leadership to the team, even though he is going to be listed third string on the depth chart.

Most of you probably don't care about unless if your an Eagles fan.....
So any eagles fans here????
