Mathieu has no shot but deserves to be up there as best player in CFB. Griffin gets my vote.

This is funny. NCAA violation for paying his staff out of his own pocket.
Quote:
Believing members of his football staff weren't being compensated satisfactorily, Georgia coach Mark Richt unknowingly violated NCAA rules by paying them out of his own pocket.

Richt's payments to several staffers were among a series of secondary NCAA violations uncovered by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in a standard open records report released Tuesday.
Georgia Bulldogs' Mark Richt paid staff from own pocket, report says - ESPN

According to Footballscoop.com Oregon head coach Chip Kelly has agreed to become the next head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The first rumors about Kelly and Tampa were reported by Michael Berk of KGW TV in Portland, late Sunday night.

While nothing has been confirmed by the University, thoughts are that both Peterson and Patterson would be the likely candidates to replace Kelly. Kelly, did however confirm that all Sacramento-area recruiting visits have been cancelled. With signing day two weeks away the question becomes why would Kelly leave a program he was deeply undoubted to just before signing day?

UPDATE: Adam Jude oph the Register-Guard is reporting that Oregon offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich is a strong candidate to become the head coach.

UPDATE: According to SportsByBrooks: “I can confirm Chip Kelly is already assembling a coaching staff for the Bucs – from a source w/ direct knowledge of process.”

of course he does, or he wants to coach in the NFL. not too many teams will take a chance on Chip and his "gimmick" offense... so he has to take it and run.

change of heart
Quote:
Two sources with direct knowledge of the talks told CBSSports.com that the Oregon head coach had agreed in principle to take the same position with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was in the process of finalizing details of a multi-year contract but has changed is mind and will stay at Oregon. The Register-Guard first reported the news of Kelly's departure and that he would be staying in Eugene Sunday night.
