Sorry SJ... but that's laughable.

MMA is and will ALWAYS be a safer sport than boxing. In MMA you have 10X as many options to disable your opponent. In Boxing you have.... what... 3 maybe?

Henderson could have let up without a doubt... but he wanted to make sure. He's not the first guy to do that and he won't be the last. And there are PLENTY of guys who have endured knocks like that and not ended up with Parkinsons or some other form of brain damage.

I would love for MMA to be re-introduced into the Olympics.

FYP and yes.

I recently started training BJJ again around christie and bloor, you should come around sometime SJ get a real grasp of how the training is and how safe it really is, i used to box when i was a teenager and i feel bjj and muay thai are much safer enviroments to train in (unless you train with chutebox, then your gonna get brain damage, but that's a whole other story, crazy brazilians KO each other for fun, sparring).

I would love it at the olympics too, but i just dont see a way Dana would go for it without making $$$. At least Canada wouldnt go gold-less cuz of GSP

I've trained in Martial Arts "Taekwondo" when I was younger and I made it to red belt then I quit once I found out that it was useless.

People were saying this 15 years ago when the UFC first came out.

SJ knows ball.

SJ does NOT know MMA.

please.

Honestly, I'm not kidding.

I know plenty, and I know that once UFC is seeing high volume, you'll see death.

Period.

And there has been dead people already in MMA, it isn't covered in the media.

If you take a trained fighter, let him tee up an unconcious man from 5 feet in the air, you are lookiong at a wonderful chance that that man is killed.

It's actually pretty fucking ridiculous that anyone would claim otherwise.

Guys that deicde to fight know they can get seriously fucked up, but that's their passion so they take the chance. So why do you care, you're not in the ring throwing down.

How much would you like to bet that there have been more horrific injuries in boxing and HOCKEY than in MMA?

And when I say "MMA" I'm talking about a REAL organization like the UFC... not some fly-by-night operation that calls itself a show and has no rules.

When the UFC first started it was FAR more dangerous. No weight classes... almost no rules... back THEN I could see someone getting killed. But now? It's one of the safest contact sports out there IMO.

If you're against MMA then you may as well do away with football... rugby... wrestling... boxing... hockey... ANYTHING that involves violence.

sorry bro, u know little to nothing and are completely talking out your ass. I have practiced and watched MMA for more then 15 years. You are one of those novice fans that thinks UFC is MMA..... sorry, there are way more organizations and it has resulted in ONE death, and that was the particpant having a heart attack, similar to what happened in many sports including hockey before. It's ridiculous that you would claim otherwise with such a narrow view and knowledge of the sport, but then again, your a super judge... why not judge things u know little about too.

Oh Stonezz, I agree with you 100% there, I'm just talking about the health of MMA as a recognised and respected sport. There's things they need to clean up, and once they do, it will be a really good sport.

I heard that they already started filming for season 10 of the TUF. Is it possible that the entire show might be leaked out before it is aired. With the addition of Kimbo Slice I can see it happening.

GSP was on off the record today and he said if he fought Silva he would be at least 200 pounds. Silva also said that he's going into the octagon to knock Forrest out.

The big question on the minds of MMA fans, of course, is whether GSP will take on Brazilian fighter and current UFC Middleweight champion Silva in the near future. St-Pierre said that was a challenge he would be bulking up for if the fight were to take place.

"If I fight Anderson Silva one day, I'm going to take an extra month and I'm going to make sure that I'm getting ready for the fight," St-Pierre told Landsberg. "I'm going to put my weight at 200 pounds minimum. I want to get bigger and I'm going to take some extra time to do it, because if I do it, I want to do it well and if I do it, I want to win. There is only one thing in my mind. I'm not going to do it to try. If I do it, it's to win."

Landsberg pressed St-Pierre about whether he would like to fight Silva soon.

"It depends on the timing. Right now it's not good timing for me," said GSP. "But one day, maybe it will be."

Big news in the MMA world today.

With Barnett being suspended for steroid recently weeks before the Fedor main event, Affliction canceled its August show.

Now it seems like they have finally seized operations as a fight promotion and agreed to come back to the UFC as an official sponsor. Rumours were that they would merge with Strikeforce but looks like the UFC won again. Not sure whats gonna happen with the contracts of the Affliction fighters now. Hopefully they merge into the UFC>

Anyone else heard what Mayweather had to say about MMA??? This guy is such a tool...

Link --> Mayweather: Whites needed a fight sport so they...

And as for the safety of the MMA... I'd have to agree that it seems to be fairly safe especially compared to other contact sports. In a sport like boxing, you are restricted to a pure striking game... and most of those strikes are going for the head.

Sure MMA fighters get rocked a lot as well but I doubt they accumulate as many strikes to the noggin' compared to a boxer.

Infact, this happened recently...
