LOL that was crazy.

I thought those leg kicks would be worth more. I was so sad I thought Machida lost.

His legs were so badly bruised and he could barely move.

LONG LIVE MACHIDA!!

That fight sucked. It was close but I think Shogun should have won as I think he got more shots in overall, but Machida had the more powerful knee to the ribs vs Shoguns kick, and Machida had 1 nice flurry of punches and Shogun didnt.

Overall, thats what you get when you have a guy who copies Machidas wait til the guy gets impatient then when he finally tries to attack you you destroy him style. When the other guy doesnt attack nothing fucking happens.

It was a very close but I think Machida did more damage to Shogun. Most of the damage that Shogun did to Machida was dealt to the legs. Machida landed more punches to the head and mid section. Shogun was however the aggressor in 3 of the 5 rounds so it was pretty hard to judge this fight.

Mir has a nice ground game but his stand-up is lacking. I would give Cain or Rothwell a far better chance at beating Brock now than Mir would ever have.
I just saw the Rothwell fight and he has absolutely no chance against Brock. Brock fought Heath Herring who a faster, stronger, and more experienced version of Rothwell and he dominated him. However, I do think now that Valasquez has a chance against Brock because of his speed, power, and punching ability. Also, he is quite young as well.

If you are going to dethrone a Champ, you have to take it from him. Not hope the judges give it to you.

Complete B.S.

Shogun won that fight.

In the 5th round he was bouncing around the octagon like he just came out for Rd. 1. He bashed and bruised Machida (who looked confused and gassed near the end) and essentially controlled the entire fight. He was the aggressor too.

The fact that it wasn't even a split decision is even more of a sham.

At any rate... VERY impressed with Shogun. He looked every bit as deadly as he did in Pride. Completely different fighter than the one we saw against Forrest.

I want to see a rematch and THEN I want Silva/Shogun in the future.

No argument there. I gave Rothwell way more credit than he deserved. He looked like another Tim Sylvia.

Cain was good. Him vs. Brock should be interesting.... I think that Brock will have a bit too much power for him though.

Yeah he came out in the 5th round bouncing around and throwing a kick every 20 seconds.

If he bashed and bruised Machida (which he did), why didn't he go for the finish? Why not get in close and knock his head off. Take it to him. Don't leave any doubt in anybodys mind that he won the fight.

Instead he sat back, bounced around, and traded kick for punch every 15 seconds.

Was he ahead in the fight, no doubt.
If it was a 10 round fight, he probably would of won.

You can't win the belt with some leg and body kicks, "wearing a guy down".

Like Raptorman said.

Like Raptorman said.
Machida's probably the best counter-puncher in MMA history. "Charging in there" is the WORST thing that Shogun could have done.

He had a good gameplan and followed it. And won the fight. Machida did NOTHING to him.

He doesn't have to charge in their blindly, but he had him "wounded", his legs beat up. Why let him stand toe to toe with you and return blow for blow like the match is even.

If he had him beat, he should of shown he had him beat by actually beating on him. He didn't.

If he was the champion, that's great, he would of retained his belt. But the other guy was the champion and if he wanted to take the belt, he should of done something more.

Definitely agreed. But Im still disappointed in the way the fight turned out. Im a big Machida fan and I wouldnt have for one second been surprised to see Shogun win that. That said .... there is a million ways to see how he DID NOT win it.

First of all ...watch the fight without Joe Rogans STUPID FUCKIN COMMENTARY. The guy was on Shoguns nuts after every kick. Watch some exchanges where Machida tags him with a knee, then a straight left and Shogun gives one counter leg kick and Rogan erupts "Wow whata great leg counter by Shogun" ... notice how many times they did this. And how many times they pointed out when Machida hit him ... NEVER!

Also notice at the end of round 1 they said "Could Machida have just lost his first round in the UFC? Possibly" .... phrase that any differently they could have said ...Machida may have won that round but it was close.

Round 1 and 2 were verrrrrrryyyyyy close. Round 3 was close ...but i thought Machida stole it with his flurry at the end. Two judges gave Machida 1,2,3... one judge gave 2,3,4 to machida.

I think Shogun clearly won 4 and 5. 1 and 2 are debatable .... so if someone gave that to Shogun I wouldnt complain.

But to call ROBBERY is lame. It was a very close fight. In close fights this happens. Cant let it go to the judges. If it was one big 25minute round Shogun would definitely win on damagae and control ... but the round system may have fucked him. Sorry.

Dana White said both guys already agreed to rematch ...so we're probably gonna see one real soon. Immediate rematches are always fun. Maybe New Years show.

Cain is super talented, great wrestling and control,, great hard and cardio. NOOOOO FINISHING POWER.

We saw in the Congo fight. BloodyElbow says it best ...

Quote:
Cain Velasquez has a lot of things going for him but big power in his hands are not among them. In the process of controlling Ben Rothwell for the entire fight and landing roughly four thousand punches to Ben's head Cain never seemed to be close to knocking him out. When the ref jumped in to save Rothwell from any further punishment Ben was completely clear eyed. Add this to the Cheick Kongo fight where Cain landed at will much of the fight without getting a stoppage, the Denis Stojnic fight which took Cain far too long to finish, and the Jake O'Brien fight where O'Brien appeared to not be overly hurt despite getting pounded on in a crucifix and I think we can officially question how much power is really in those hands. Still, a smothering wrestling game and deep gas tank are going to carry Cain pretty far.
lol
