The problem with the UFC now is that all of the champs are pussies who don't want to fight each other.

So what if the guy outweighs you by 20 lbs??? BIG FREAKING DEAL.

Guys like Royce Gracie and Sakuraba were beating guys who outweighed them by 50-60 lbs.

Suck it up and give the fans what they want to see.

wow.

Guys like Gracie were trained in a way of fighting the rest of those meatheads had no idea how to defend.... that why they could.

Gracie would die against a guy now if he had to try to go that route.

Tsk tsk

Back then those huge fighters weren't as technically skilled as ALL the fighters nowdays.

Lol... I'm not talking about BJ Penn fighting Brock Lesnar.... I'm talking about GSP vs. Silva... or Silva vs. Machida... or even Machida vs. Brock.

Go up ONE weight class. No big deal.

Take a look back at Sakuraba and the SKILLED big guys that he used to fight.

Also look at Minitauro Nogueira and the monsters that he fought who outweighed him by 50-100 lbs.

Going up one weight class is a huge deal, actually. Don't know how your body is going to react and if your forcing yourself to move up then it's likely you'll be one of the smallest in that class. N since everyone's so skilled nowadays the weight makes a big difference.

Have you seen what qualifications are for the HW div?

206-250lbs!

Meaning that you could fight at 210lbs. and be pitted against a guy that CUTS down to 250 (so could be 260 or so for the fight)!

So again... what's the big deal giving up 20lbs?

And I don't buy the fact that guys these days are more skilled.... they're more well-rounded.... but they often lack the precision of pure strikers or the knowledge of pure jiu-jutsu guys. There are some freakish exceptions like Silva, Penn, GSP etc... but there are A LOT of hacks too who don't know how to do anything but ground n pound.

I know the qualifications. Yeah fighters ae more well-rounded so therefore they're more skilled, no? Yeah there are probably alot of dudes that can just ground and pound but it's quite different in the UFC. I mean, even one of the kings of ground and pound Tito Ortiz almost locked up Machida in a triangle choke. Mir is one of the most skilled HW's in the world and he's very solid off his back but he still got fucked up by Brock. Why? Because of the weight on top of him.

I would love to see more fights at catch-weight. Didn't Rich Franklin just have a fight at 195 pounds against someone??

Don't ever quote Tito Ortiz to me when talking about "good MMA fighters".

He's the most overrated hack in the history of the sport.

Mir is a decent Jiu-jitsu guy but the level of competition that he's faced leaves something to be desired as well. If he fought Nog. again he'd get creamed.

Of course though Dana said no.

Wants Machida to defend in his own weight class for a while first.

But I would like to see that fight happen, Would also like to see Silva jump up to 205 again and try to fight Machida.

Silva Machida would be a beautiful fight to watch.

He may be overrated but that doesn't disregard the fact he almost locked up Machida. I agree Mir would be owned by Big Nog. cause Nog was recovering from a staph infection when he faced Mir.

Read today that Hendo and UFC are having trouble reaching an agreement so Hendo might go to Strikeforce.

Also Bernard Hopkins has been ripping MMA lately. Calling it "gay" and that a bunch of dudes just wrestle around in panties. He also said he would feel gay if he watched it. AND he said only white skinheads watch this sport. Ignorant dumbass.

here's the official word

Quote:
Lyoto Machida makes me proud to be a fan and observer of this sport. He's respectful, appreciative and the ignition for the most talked-about platform shift in fighting sports since Royce Gracie began choking out people with his thighs.

Speaking with Sherdog.com's Marcelo Alonso, Machida explained that if he defends his belt five times, he wants an opportunity to face Brock Lesnar.

If Brock and Machida fought each other in what type of fashion would machida win? He won't be strong enough to secure lesnars big body in a submission.

Machida would win in decision.

I dont think anyone can knock out brock, but there is no way Brock could prevent Machida from picking his shots and getting out. repetedly

He could choke him our... or even win by strikes. The shots that hit rashad didn't look that huge either... but he got knocked out cold.

Or even the shot that silva knocked out forrest with, when you get hit in the face repeatedly... sometimes embarassment just knocks you down.

If Brock gets a hold of Machida in any way, it's over.
