these fighters are underpaid. Period.

The UFC sold that place out, when they do, the gate alone...just the gate is 4 million dollars. Thats before the millions that come in from the PPV. The top guy only got 400K. Seems like a lot, but when you consider the people are there to see the main fights, these guys should be paid accordingly.

Nate Marquardt, on the main effin bill, 45K atrocious.

Mulhern only made 6K.

First fight in the UFC, sure, but he was there, risking his life to put on a show in this promoters Bloodsport, and promoter that will clear a huge profit when all is said and done. It's a pretty huge shame that they will hype these events, hype these Gladiators, then pay them like shit at the end of the night.

Not impressed.

After all the bright lights, after all the pr and the shine up job they did to get thgis so called sport commissioned in so many places. After all the rule changes and the Pop culture status, its still exactly what it was. Mobsters and gangsters putting young men and women on display to hurt each other to appease the lowest common denominator in all of us.

At the end of the day, I am no different than most, I watch this shit, but I always did thinking that the fighters were finally being compensated very well for what they do. I think it's pretty lame now, Dan Frye was right, the fighters need to go on strike.

You're hilarious, how many of them out side of Silva have seen as many high level, high stakes main event battles? Eh?? You think Johnny Jones will be around as long as GSP if he slugs it out with every new young stud that comes to take his belt? Aldo? Cain...fuck cain has already lost as a result.

This isn't a dick measuring contest TORAP, and, if what the UFC sells us, and if we are to believe it is a mixed MARTIAL ARTS sport, then why the fuck is "killer instinct" or just "bangin" even acceptable??

My argument against MMA is finally coming full circle, I am loving this. The very sam arguments people tried to use to justify this "sport" 5-10 years ago are all out the window now, the very guy you people used to justify this sports existence is still humbly winning without hate and anger, but now you all turn your back and say, he just isn't violent enough for me, he isn't killing people badly enough, he isn't concussing enough people, or threatening enough lives, or his own.

and I smile. Because from day one this was and is what it is to me. A bloodsport.

I think GSP is fucking fantastic, and brilliant, and a true "athlete" among animals. and even HE is an animal.

So which way do you want it?

You want it to be a sport...athletes out ther ecompeting to win while respecting their fellow fighters?

Or do you want it to be a gaggle of savages, trying their best to hit the rage button and hurt the person in front of them as badly as they can. Get those last 3-4 shots in while the guy below them is clearly unconscious, swear and make homophobic remarks, call guys "bitches" and say they hit like women, while they have women in their very own camps.

What do you want?

Be honest man....and don't skirt this with some lame answer, just cut to the chase. Is this a sport or is this a Bloodsport?

Because if it is indeed a sport, you should be in awe of what GSP accomplishes. And if it is a Bloodsport, you should be in awe in what his competitors have no yet figured out how to accomplish against him.

As for last night. 15 of the 25 minutes were spent Standing up. GSP out struck DIAZ 3:1 in those 15 minutes. His significant punch total was 3 times what Diaz's was. He bailed on a few take downs he could have had to conserve energy, which was a smart move, and he made Diaz look like a BJJ yellow belt on the ground the other 10 mins. Sorry bud, that was plenty entertaining to me, downright amazing really.

You can have Ellenberger, his a Baller...he BANGS, he also loses very third fight and will never hold the belt. GSP has had id for the most part for what...7-8 years?

The worst part about it is the low end of the pole. Yes GSP is underpaid but putting a fighter in for 6K and not paying for his MRI is a disgrace.

Problem is UFC can parade any jo blow out there to be willing to fight an undercard (hence all the british/canadian cards are stacked with local fighters) they'll just overturn them faster than any member can spew out the word Union.

It'll take guys like Randy couture, chuck lidell and present fighters like Silva/GSP etc. to put their careers on the line for the greater good. I don't think these guys are in that position yet.

Remember when we were discussing Jones backing out. Well I found out the main reason why Jones told Dana where to go was because he not only told Jones he had to fight Sonnen but he would also cut his pay.

I swear I hate zuffa and dana more than anything. Borderline sweat shop owners. Guys made their money why not tag on a cost of living pay for these bottom feeder fighters.

6k for a fight is a total disgrace.

To those who thing Diaz will retire (i think the second time he said it)

Check this out

UFC fighter Nick Diaz says he doesn't pay taxes

By The Associated Press March 17, 2013

MONTREAL (AP) American welterweight Nick Diaz has confessed to never having paid taxes.

The revelation came after he talked about how poor his preparations were for UFC 158, a lopsided loss to champion Georges St-Pierre on Saturday night at the Bell Centre. Diaz was asked whether he was considering changing fight camps.

Diaz's response was: ``I can't be jumping teams. I just have to invest a little bit more, now that I have a little bit more money. You know what? I've never paid taxes in my life. I'm probably going to go to jail.''

Diaz said in the cage after the fight that he has retired, only to join the post-fight news conference midway through to say he wanted a rematch with St-Pierre or possibly Carlos Condit.

Dude. This isn't university. Save the essays.

Cain lost to JDS because he fought injured. See what happened when he was back to 100%? How many fights has Aldo lost? How about Silva? How many former champs has Jones put away now in a row with only ONE going to decision?

I don't need to see blood.

I don't need to see guys playing "Rocky" like Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar, swinging for the fences.

What I DO need to see is guys like GSP (who obviously have a decided advantage over their opponent) go out there and actually TRY to finish the fight. On one hand you imply that Diaz is overrated as hell (hasn't fought anyone) and then on the other you defend GSP for executing a smart game plan.

Rory Mac? Johnny Hendricks? Now THOSE are WWs who go out there to get the job done.

Sorry dude... can't have it both ways IMO. If you're significantly better than your opponent go out there and take him out. That's what champs are supposed to do.

I feel bad for this guy man, he really has zero guidance it seems, he suffers from an obvious anxiety issue and he's really heading the wrong way in life. People say he has all this cash etc..but really, does he, he's headed for prison.

That said, he also managed to slip in that he thinks GSP's camp has spies, or else how else would he have stuffed all his moves on the mat. Life as a delusion.

Realize that UFC has to market fights, set up the event, rent the arena and pay 20-24 fighters for every ppv.

I remember seeing the $$$ breakdown in a fight card about 2 years ago. Almost half of the fighters made $2000. This looks like an improvement of sorts.

Still guys like GSP and Jones and Silva should be at least $1 Mill a fight.

Tyson and others were getting $20- $40 mill a fight. I'm sure the PPV numbers were not as big. Players need a union or a big time fighter to step up demands.
