The UFC was going to put Chael Sonnen vs Jones but Jones declined. Sonnen would have been only given 8 days to train.

i'm glad jones declined... Sonnen is one month removed from getting bashed by Silva, and will have a few days to train... he would get annihilated.

Machida declined the fight. I'm so glad he did because after a Machida win a few months ago Dana White promised him a title shot and NEVER got it and snubbed him for Shamrock. I love this outlash on Dana White from the fighters. About bloody time.

If the card was in Calgary they would keep the gates open. Dana White is the bitch on this one. I'm glad Jones gave the UFC a big FU. About time a fighter does so. Also Jones fights and lets his talent pay him and he doesn't have fuck all to do with the "starving fighters". Blame the UFC for not paying their MRI's before fights and making them starve. You guys aren't talking nonsense, but you are doing something that I don't like, you're making your comments and judgements based upon ideals that have nothing to do with how things really work.

Jon Jones isn't required to help those guys at all. You're right.
And Dana White didn't have to cancel that event. You're right.

Here's the problem.

The UFC IS the event. They promote the fighters, they make the PPV happen, they create an environment that will allow the guys that succeed make some good coin. Its that simple. Jones basically broke code. You can say all you want about obligation, both personal and contractual, but there is reality too. He fucked over the guys below him by refusing to fight Sonnen. His presence on the card is what drives the ratings and thus drives the ability to even have an undercard. He decided he was above that, said no, and now none of those guys can make money.

Sounds to me like you guys are fans and take it personally that I called Jones names. So for that I apologize. What I don't apologize for is understanding how their company works, and understanding how they stand together to try to make sure they all make money in the short windows they all have to do it in. Maybe it's not perfect, but fuck, sometimes you need to get your head out of Pollyanna and just see a situation for what it is. At this time, right now in the UFC, fighters take one for the team, they step in under short notice and they accept fights under short notice.

Thats great you respect the UFC and its chain of command. I for one don't like how they don't pay their lower fighters a dime. Personally I don't care about Jon Jones and the fact you called him names. Doesn't bother me but what does bother me is you have fighters that have to pay for their own MRI to just get in the ring.

the ufc is a business - a billion dollar business. how can a business consider paying their lower 'employees' basically nothing?
a guy on UFC 148 undercard got paid $6k. that card made millions and millions of dollars, yet they pay a guy on the card 6K??? that will barely take care of his hospital bills.
thats my problem, right there... And DVS nailed it on the head that UFC doesnt even offer any benefits to these guys, so they basically have to pay medical bills out of pocket. thats a joke if you ask me.

Sure Jones probably lost alot of respect by refusing to fight, but that is his decision. pinning the blame on him for the 20 guys under him not getting paid is a complete joke. he isnt their boss, nor does he have anything to do with their paycheque.
Dana white can bitch and moan about the UFC family and its 'chain of command' and how Jones' decision affects everyone under him, but thats all BS. Dana White doesnt give a shit about anyone else but himself and how he can make more money and how he can exploit the next guy. he's just freaking out because he's losing millions in profit by cancelling an event; and somehow its all Jones' fault.

thats ridiculous. he should never be put in that situation in the first place. he shouldnt feel guilty for the guys geting paid nickles and dimes... its not his fault, nor his role to make sure these guys can feed their kids. pin that on the guy at the top. pin that on Dana White.

Exacty, and to add to Insiders comments. What do you look for when watching a PPV card? The UFC name? Dana's bald head? Zuffa? No you go to watch the fighters. If their are no class fighters you don't have UFC. I know the UFC owners do deserve alot of respect for bringing he sport out of the ashes but still just like an NBA, NHL, MLB game etc etc the fans go to watch the athletes. Maybe White and Co. should respect that and treat their fighters fairly. I said it before the UFC need a union desperately not to protect guys like Jones but to get a basic package set up for starting fighters. For White to blame Jones on not getting undercard fighters their paycheque is basically a walking joke.

Various Boston Pizza's across Canada are not showing UFCs until further notice. I hope this is a domino effect to scale back on UFC PPVs because their have been way too many crappy ones of late
