Default NFL fans: Rams Sign Bradford to $78 million deal

Quote:
he St. Louis Rams reached an agreement with No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford on a six-year, $78 million deal, sources told ESPN on Friday night.

According to the sources, Bradford's deal contains $50 million of guarantees and has a max value of $86 million.

Last year, the Detroit Lions gave No. 1 overall pick Matthew Stafford a six-year deal that included $41.7 million in guaranteed money.

Veteran A.J. Feeley opened Rams camp as the starting quarterback while Bradford's agents and the Rams' front office worked out a deal.

Bradford won the Heisman Trophy as a redshirt sophomore at the University of Oklahoma. However, he appeared in just three games in 2009, his junior year, before undergoing right shoulder surgery.

yikes!

50 mil guaranteed for a kid that hasn't played a single game...this is getting to be a joke...NFL really needs a rookie scale contract...

where do they stop? next years first over all pick is gonna get even more money...

i just dont see it happening...

nfl's salary structure is a fucking joke...

2005's 1st overall pick, Alex Smith got 24 million in guaranteed money
2006's 1st overall pick, Mario Williams got 27 million in guaranteed money
2007's 1st overall pick, JaMarcus Russell got 32 million in guaranteed money
2008's 1st overall pick, Jake Long got 30 million in guaranteed money
2009's 1st overall pick, Matthew Stafford got 42 million in guaranteed money
And of course this year Bradford for 50 million
are they gonna pay the 1 pick next year 60 mil?

see the trend? and the only reason jake long didn't get as much as the other guys is because he doesn't play a skill position....and the worse part is that these overpaid fuckers will hold out until they get the money they want...

i dont understand what the owners are thinking....chris johnson signed a 5 year 12 mil contract with 7 mil guaranteed...why? because he was the 24th pick?...while darren mcfadden signed a 60 mil contract with 24 mil guaranteed because he was the 4th pick....johnson is one of only six players to reach 2000 yards mark...while the other one plays for the raiders...

they really need a rookie scale contract...but i highly doubt its gonna happen in this agreement...

football contracts aren't as bad as basketball ones, only thing thats wrong is the rookie deals
at least you can buyout/renegotiate deals
on the bright side, JJ is making$40 mil more than him
