Yeah saw that earlier, sorry to hear DVS. Just a huge loss for Cuse and like you said they're done most likely.

UConn banned from postseason in 2013 due to poor academic standing - CBSSports

Quote:
For UConn, Calhoun and its incoming recruiting prospects, the future is now a soupy fog. Senior forward Alex Oriakhi is already transferring, and this ineligibility for the postseason means that he and any other player can go to another school without having to sit out a year. It also means players like Andre Drummond and Jeremy Lamb are likely to bypass any more college experience and put their names into the 2012 NBA draft.

Ohio state won't finish in the top 5. Texas is going to be average.... again. Too bad we can't recruit in our own state. 3 of the top 5 players next year are heading out of state.

NC state to finish in the top 5

Ohio State is good but I don't know how good. Depends on how some of the younger players improved. Aaron Craft and DeShaun Thomas are beast though. That I can say. This team can be Final Four good if some of the younger players improved(Ross, Williams, Thompson, Scott, & Smith). A few of them were HS All Americans.

Even last year I felt that Thomas was better than Sullinger. I like Craft, he has that Greivis Vasquez intensity. Best man to man defender at the point.

Michigan is overrated. Don't see them going past the sweet 16 in the tourney.

Very young team who is not ready yet. Talented but sometimes talent takes longer to develop. Last year their freshman played like seniors. Different year this year.

On another note, Big 10 is loaded. Wow, I can't wait till conference play starts. Going to be some amazing battles.

The seven non-Football Bowl Subdivision schools in the Big East have agreed to leave the conference and are debating the process of departing it, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

The loss of the seven Catholic schools is the latest in a dizzying array of defections from the Big East, which formed in 1979. The seven schools will bring the number of departures since 2004 to 17.
Big mess in the Big East

FOOTBALL

Conference realignment happening in CFB. Big East getting taken apart because of it.

Syracuse if I'm not mistaken hasn't had a great football program since god knows when. It's just ridiculous.

its all about money and football makes almost all of the profit for athletic departments in the big conferences (and that profit funds the rest of the sports). They went to the ACC because they have a bigger TV deal and are more stable.

They don't have the best football program but do have the NY Market, and very good BB program. Syracuse knew it had to leave the Big East to help its FB program because the Big East in FB has been torn apart.

Looks like the 7 "non FB" Big East program will try to join with some other schools that would make a solid basketball conference.

Brey also said some of the nation's Catholic schools are discussing joining the seven outgoing Big East Catholic schools and making a national Catholic conference with Xavier, Saint Louis, Dayton, Creighton, Gonzaga and possibly Saint Mary's, as well.

Still, the Big East in BB was amazing to watch. Tons of very good teams. Sucks it will not be that way anymore. Going to lose some nice rivalries and battles.

I thought Rutgers had the NY market? at least thats what the B1G thinks...
I heard those 7 breakaway schools might join with Butler, VCU, Creighton, etc... that would be interesting

Ha, well hopefully the B1G knows more and is right!

Another few good options. If they can get those 3, Xavier, and a couple solid A10 programs, it will be very solid BB conference.

Yeah, no one is sure. Some are saying the 7 will form their own conference and then try to poach A-10 schools, or just join the A-10 all together.

I thought St. John's had the NY market to be honest (but I'm a homer). The competition in the B.E. made so many schools up their game (Pitt, UCF, 'Nova, St. John's) but now....oh well.

Top top 3 of that list are really good. The next 3? I'm not so sure of, especially Illinois. I can see them dropping this year.

I hear you. I've watched Illinois, they can score/run! Not sure how good they're but they have been fun to watch. Minnesota I've not even watched yet. Michigan State is Michigan State. They always find a way to be solid at the end of the year. Izzo factor!
