If they go all in and seriously upgrade the pitching and go for it then you keep him obviously. I seriously doubt they really do what is necessary though. This offseason is make or break for this group imo. Can't go into year three of this core group and not make signicant upgrades where it's needed, namely pitching and still tell everyone that there is a plan to contend.

I don't think the bats are as good as advertised, nor were they ever. What you have is 9 guys consistently swinging for the fences on this team; it works when they're hot (i.e. May) but over the long haul it can't provide consistent offense that translates into winning.

I get that they're top 5 in runs scored and home runs and they're up there in a few other offensive categories. Those stats hold some weight sure, but what does total runs scored really mean if, for argument's sake, you score 1000 runs in game one of the season but get shutout the rest of the way? Offensively this team has always been feast or famine because they have never had the team that consistently gets on base, plays small ball, etc. The infuriating thing was they actually did some of that in May, and we just haven't seen any of that since. Oh, and watching this team bunt is a fucking shit show, but that's another story.

What I'd be interested to know is how often they deviate from their average runs scored per game. Say their average runs scored per game is 5, how often do they go above and below that. I'd bet you the Jays deviate from their average runs per game more often, and more severely, than any other team in the league. Fuck this team

The injuries to Lawrie/Encarnacion/Lind really fucked up their mojo when they were playing very good baseball. I disagree that they were always swinging for the fences; when they were playing good baseball, which they were on more than one occasion, they were showing good patience up and down the lineup. Better then I've seen for any season in recent memory.

I think Navarro mentioned during the 6 game win streak a month ago about the need to keep an even keel. It's tough to do that for 164 games, and they appear to be falling apart ever since the trade deadline.

I think vocalizing the discontent about the organization, specifically the need to upgrade teammates, from Bautista and Jansen was a turning point in the season. That's simply not being a good teammate and I don't see how that couldn't have a negative impact to team chemistry. It really has been all downhill since then, went from a 6 game win streak to a 3 game losing streak. Bad attitudes, bad leadership, bad timing.

The comments at the time were seen as almost 'heroic', Bautista and Jansen slamming big bad Rogers & Alex.

In what way is that supposed to motivate their teammates to play baseball? The complete opposite would have been the right thing to say. "We are good enough", "We trust what we have", etc. etc.

It was absolutely the worst type of attitude to have in the middle of pennant race and when their team is on a 6 game winning streak. Horrible attitude. Worst possible attitude to have given the situation.

Agreed, and if i'm not mistaken JB has complained at the deadline in the past. I could be wrong but I swear he has bitched about not enough being done before.

Blue Jays gave Jeter a 3 day trip to Banff which includes a helicopter tour of the rockies and skiing. They also donated 10k to one of his charities.

Very nice gift.

What a colossal bust that guy has been so far in his career. He was supposed to be a Mike Trout type talent when he came up with the Cards.

Seems to lack work ethic and desire to be very good.

I remember hearing last year or the year before that he had great work ethic. He used to practice and go to the cage so much that he would get tired for the games, which is why he was always inconsistent. He looks like to be in pretty good shape too. Hmmmm

i don't think there's anything to substantiate that other than his southern drawl and the fact he looks stoned all the time.

Colby's dad was on baseball central a while back and said that colby gets frustrated at the plate and is constantly tinkering with his swing. That isn't really a recipe for success, particularly in baseball where all good things are temporary.
