Haaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!

Jeff Blair was asked yesterday if Cano would come here, his exact response was:

"No way, he has no interest in coming here, he will end up in NY because that is where he wants to be. They will work out a deal and he'll take a little less money. If it was all just about money for him he'd be in Seattle."

So then he's greedy like 99% of athletes? No such thing as loyalty in sports man, just people that want to get paid as much as they can.

Yanks paid Beltran 15M a year over 3 years? Yuck, he's not worth that much. So many baseball plays are so massively overpayed it's sick.

was talking with my hockey staff about this yesterday...i'm getting to the point where i can't relate to this game anymore (with all the "stupid" money being thrown around)
i find myself moving away from it more and more each year

Mehh, i enjoy the sport and try not to think about what money they make. Ultimately that's out of our control and the sport and it's athletes are there to watch and to entertain.

i still believe the market will correct itself at some point. so many of these huge contracts have ended up being terrible acquistions, not just in the long-term but in short-term too, like after 2 and 3 years in a lot of cases.

I still remember his first game that I watched of his, and I'm pretty sure was his first as a Jay (or at least one of the first) Came so damn close to a no hitter.

As much as I've wanted to believe that for years and hope it does, it just seems to be getting more and more out of control, not better. More players are taking advantage of what other players have been paid before them.

That's what they're supposed to do, happens in every sport. Or any high priced profession for that matter.

Oh I know, I'm not saying it doesn't, but in a sport with no cap, it's getting out of control and it's going to get much worse as years pass.

Absolutely, it'll only get worse. Baseball should really adopt a cap system imo.

If not a cap then at least something to stop all these outrageous contracts

According to FOXSports.comís Jon Morosi, the Blue Jays and Rangers were involved in a three-team deal last month that would have sent reliever Sergio Santos to Texas, but that the deal fell apart because another player failed his physical.

Santos would have helped make up for the loss of Joe Nathan to Detroit. He missed almost all of 2012 because of a torn labrum and then much of last season with a sore elbow, but once healthy, he posted a 1.75 ERA and a 28/4 K/BB ratio in 25 2/3 innings for the Blue Jays. He could have joined Neftali Feliz, Joakim Soria and possibly Tanner Scheppers in the mix for saves in Texas.

There isnít any word on who else or what other team was involved in the trade, and given that this all went down a couple of weeks ago, it doesnít seem likely that it will be revived. Santos, though, might be attractive to another team once more free agent closers and setup men come off the board.
