Lol if JP actually learned how to play the damn game people wouldn't hate on him... Get a respectable batting average, and actually hit the ball, and also not swing at every pitch possible and you got a start.

And then become a DH, because he can't catch.

I will never forgot this one at bat...5 straight pitches out of the zone, like the pitch tracks shows each pitch in the dirt away, not even close to the strike zone...

Yet it's an 0-2 count to JPA..

It may not be easy to fix everything, but it should be easy to establish some semblance of plate discipline. Jp's problem is that he can't admit that swinging for the fences on almost every pitch is a bad idea. The easy part is opening up to the criticism, listening to the coaches and not getting angry about it. Actualizing that is hard, but Jp seems unwilling to even listen.

i agree that it's fair to criticize him for not even making minor improvements to his approach (his OPS has decreased each of the last two seasons, while his strikeout rate has increased) but I don't think it's fair to criticize him for something he will likely never have, like a respectable batting average.

Ok hows this, stop striking out so much and make some contact... is that too much to ask... cuz you know he does so many things good... oh wait he doesn't do anything. I figured asking one thing to improve wouldn't be too much.

and even when he is taking a pitch its like wtf? i remember in yesterday's game it was a full count and a pitch right down the middle (literally) for strike 3. he stands there as one would if you disagree with a call. even Buck said in like a sighing type of tone, that was just a fastball right down the middle.

He seems to be guessing and deciding whether or not to swing before he pitch is even made. I've seen him take strike 3 down the middle a few times recently. It's like a poor little league hitter.

As someone who played competitive ball, if you have no confidence at the plate you second guess everything and you simply hesitate and are kind of caught not knowing to swing because you're over thinking it. You essentially have about a half second to zero in on a pitch and step into it when the pitch is thrown. Any hesitation and your fucked and can at times look stupid but I understand that feeling. And then you go to the dugout kicking yourself knowing you just stood there.

Colby has quietly put together a decent season thus far. Strikes out a ton but still has a .265 average and good power numbers. If he cut down those K's his average would definitely jump up a bit.

That 3 pitch K by JP with rajai on 3rd and 2 out was brutal.

And that's 24 runs in 2 games by the dodgers, if anyone is counting.
