I'm not sure I can buy the "still early in the season" thing. I think it's the same thing I was saying for the Raps, that they needed to start well because of the competition for a playoff spot. They started badly, had injuries and it cost them.

If they weren't in a tough division and they were playing good ball, and did not just lose probably their most dynamic player for 2 months, and their "ace" didn't have some physical issue crop up, and not hitting terribly as a team and not showing dominant pitching, and playing bad situational ball, then I'd say there are plenty of games left.

But by the time they get it together, are they going to have enough games to catch up?

I get that, and i was one of the guys that said just that. But you don't want to get 6-7 games back early. This looks like the Marlins of last year right now.

Basically a lot of teams struggle early on, not in game shape, new teams, etc. Get to Mid July and see where you guys are. That is when you can start seeing what teams will be in the playoff race for the rest of the year and what teams are gonna have trouble selling tickets late in the year.
This was a good post by R&B Fan, thought i'd quote it.

Mariners put up donuts last 2 games. Could be another extra ugly season for the team with the best pitcher in all the land.

I know this happens in every stadium (ok too much of a blanket statement), but seeing some of these videos and then talking to a few friends who have gone this year, it seems that the game has become secondary and the crowd has become the primary event.

One friend, coming back on the GO, said it was unbearable with the 'drunk' fans as they were just belligerent to everyone (he was sitting next to his 5 yr. old and they didn't care). I'll just say this, at this moment, I wouldn't go see a game. I'm all for having fun. I'm not for having to go and spend my money and just sit in an uncomfortable situation.

Actually i will say that baseball crowds tend to be the most rowdy in the city. Not that this means much on a global scale or anything, but it means something to the toronto sports market. I have never gone to a leafs game at the ACC. Raptors games and without a doubt the most family and kid focused experiences. TFC games are pretty easy going... there's a lot of drinking, but generally people don't get rude or abrasive. but i would agree with the comments about baseball crowds being off-putting to certain people. Same with certain argo fans.

Thank god they won today. I think they have everything to play for and can absolutely still have a successful season but they need to start winning games and series and changing their momentum. A dude i was talking to before the NY series mentioned to me that detroit didn't get to .500 until july of last season... i don't know if that true as i didn't and won't bother looking it up, but if it is true well that tells you something.
