Romero. He deserves the shot seeing that he started the season for the team twice and was an all star. Just because Happ has a good spring training shouldn't mean he leapfrogs him just yet. I give romero 10 starts to see what he has

watching game 4 of the 93 world series. TBH was the only world series game the jays played I didn't watch live. I remember turning it off before the 6th inning seeing that it was raining hard I was pissed and thought their will be a delay.

I agree Romero deserves the spot as of right now. He's only had 1 bad season, so lets see if he can regain his 2011 form. He's gonna have a shorter leash this year though because of the increased expectations and Happ chomping at the bit

Romero should and will get it, and will be watched closely to show hes deserving of it.

Gibby already said Romero is the 5th starter end of discussion. I think he'll do fine hope I'm right

I predict 13-11 with a 4.10 ERA

Unless he really spots his pitches he's going to struggle and have an up & down season. He simply doesn't throw hard enough to not get punished for his mistakes.

Agreed. That being said, it's sad to see his fall from where he was a couple years ago.

He needs to start throwing his changeup for strikes instead of putting them in the dirt all the time. He was good in 2011 because of a wicked changeup but hitters are laying off of it now.

Yes, you read my mind. I was just thinking about Romero and the changeup. Back in 2010, he had starts with good strike out numbers, which got me excited as a Jays fan. He had a couple of 12 strikeout games. IIRC, guys were being fooled by his changeup back then.

The changeup relies on throwing the fastball for strikes. Isn't this what he's struggling with?

RR had better be tied to a very short leash..he doesn't deserve anything else
He was shit last year...and has looked less than average this spring

Happ has outpitched him this spring imho...he deserves the spot

i could care less who gets that spot, GREAT problem to have, meaning the Jays middle relief just got way better.

If Happ deserves the starting spot Gose should start at centre field.

If you pro rate Gose' numbers from last year they are even better than Rasmus. Not only that Gose is the better centre fielder and is much faster.

Upside also a clear advantage to Gose.

I can also argue Romero has once been an all star, twice an opening day pitcher for the club and overall shows better upside than Happ.

Bottom line is the only reason why Rasmus and Romero are starting this year is because of the financial investment of the player. Its easier to bench either Romero or Rasmus and bring up Happ or Gose and say: well they got their chance now let this person do the job than vice versa.
