Even the Yankees? I swear half their lineup has 30+ homers when I went to see them play in September.

Sorry I've been outta the sport for like 3 years, Raptors took over.

gibby huh?

I've been unable to access the site all day so i've been thinking this hire through. Gibbons is strong at micromanaging and bullpen management. That alone should make him better than what we're used to. People were really looking for that sexy name and this isn't it, but who really cares. Guy had a couple good season as the boss so i am intrigued.

I agree Gibby handles the Bullpenn well. Personally I'd say thats the strongest trait of a Baseball manager. Top it off he is forthright with the media and the players seem to like him (exception of the malcontents of Hillebrand and Lilly). Whats most important is that a rookie GM like AA obtained a manager that he can control. Now this is all on AA and its the way it should be. If their was a honeymoon its officially over.

John Gibons says he sees Cabrera leading off for us. I would think Reyes should be leading off, should be interesting.

If i had to guess (If Cabrera is leading off):

Cabrera
Reyes
Bautista
Encarnacion
Lawrie
Lind
Rasmus
Arencebia
Bonifacio

or

Cabrera
Reyes
Lawrie
Bautista
Encarnacion
Lind
Rasmus
Arencebia
Bonifacio

Yankees are a team with some core players that are on the decline and with no real prospects to take over. They can try to buy upgrades or replacements via free agency but read that they are actually trying to reduce payroll in order to avoid luxury tax. They can try to move players to reduce payroll, but a lot of the players have (IMO) contracts that make them untradeable.

The Yankees' future doesn't look as bright as the Jays'.

think you have to keep Bautista third
and i'd prefer seeing Reyes lead off with Cabrera 2nd
would still like to see EE moved to 1st permanently...trade Lind (as part of a package) for a good DH

pretty solid from 1 thru 9 though

Part of me likes Bautista hitting 4th behind Lawrie because it gives him protection and then you have to pitch to Bautista because you have Encarnacion behind him. Those three players if positioned properly can give us 80 HR's next season imo. Put Lawrie say 5-6th in the lineup and nobody behind him that really scares anyone doesn't get him going imo. I also think the 3-4-5 hitters can be moved around a little every so often depending on pitching matchups. I also like the fact that we now have 4 switch hitters. And i agree Reyes should be leading off.

Can someone tell me about Bonifacio? I've heard he's one of the fastest guys in the league, but I don't know too much else about him.

If you want to know about stats, contract status, age then click below.

Emilio Bonifacio Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com

His best offensive tool is his speed. Maybe he platoons with Izturis at 2B?

Lawrie
Bautista
EE
Cabrera

Lind

Actually, that's pretty good. But listening to Gibson yesterday that isn't happening. He wants Cabrera at the top and give him as many at bats as possible. But to be honest i like the lineup you posted. Even Cabrera gets some protection if Lind can get his head out of his ass or Rasmus has a decent season.
