We have the same team as last year, minus an 18 game whiner, er, winner so...

Smallest Skydome crowd ever last night.

Imagine people not wanting to come out after you spend an entire off-season saying that you have no intention of even trying to be competitive.

Do you think it's SkyDome? Granted, SkyDome is only 20 years old, but I would hate to sit through a game there. Awful, awful venue - packed or not.

That's definitely a huge part of it. Concrete monstrosity.

If they made an effort to get some real grass in there, it would make a huge difference....... but that's never going to happen.

Nope, not a chance. I'd love a baseball only stadium, but that ain't gonna happen.

If they wanted to, they could have grass and not sacrifice all of the other events. I'm sure that if they could do it for the World Cup in the Silverdome, there is a way to do it at Skydome. But they don't want to. It's a shame.

man I wish toronto had a baseball specific venue

grass at SkyDome is hard b/c it doesn't have good drainage
and the argos play there

you need tine to put grass dowm
In the Silverdome they did it b/c the Lions didn't use it in the spring and summer. So grass for the WC wasn't a problem

A baseball only stadium in Toronto would be amazing. I hate going to games and going into that complex. There's no feel in there. It's empty. Hell, I think the whole retractable roofing system has really made alot of the parks of the early part of this decade seem dull.

The new parks built rely on that open air quality. Sure games, may get rained out, but that's what baseball is built on. The outdoor aspect.

And grass is desperately needed in the RC and in BMO Field. Why this city clings to the idea that fake grass is better than real grass, I'll never know.

don't you remember that they used portable, hexagonal pods of grass?

I emailed the the president of Fieldturf a few years ago and asked him what the deal was with the Blue Jays not supporting a Canadian business and installing his product. He said he didn't know why and that he'd tried to sell them on it. As luck would have it, about a year later, they finally bought it and I emailed him again and asked why they didn't put an all dirt infield in. Not only do they not have good drainage, they have NO drainage, which is assinine.

Anyway, I don't mind Rogers Center if I'm close to the action and the roof's open. With the roof closed, it's horrible.

I actually don't mind it as a venue. It's just kind of hard to get all excited about a team that's sucked for the last how many years now? Maybe this year will be different. i don't know... but still having a competitive team makes all the difference in the world for me at least.

I saw the Stones there about 3 years ago and vowed never to go back to SkyDome as a venue for a concert.

When the roof is closed, it's really stuffy and hot.

I was there for the Bills games as well as the Grey Cup and it was just awful.

Very, very sad news out of the Los Angeles area

Quote:
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Los Angeles Angels rookie pitcher Nick Adenhart and two other people were killed Thursday when a minivan ran a red light and struck their sports car, authorities said.

Adenhart, 22, died after undergoing surgery, University of California, Irvine Medical Center spokesman John Murray said.

good point man.

I remember last year i took a look at the ticket prices outside of the Dome and was shocked just how much they cost. I mean when the team is having a hard time drawing decent numbers, you'd think they'd make it more affordable. but they don't. fools.
