Plus, Dustin showed real progress this season. This smells like another Overbay deal
Bedard being a Canadian (and a good pitcher to boot), the thinking is that it would attract more fannies into the seats. Ted Rogers has voiced his concerns about having more Canadians play on the team. And if Uncle Teddy's forking over the cash, you might want to listen to what he says. Also, the thinking is that Bedard might give the Jays a hometown discount when he re-ups. I'm not a fan of trading McGowan. I think he'll be very solid this year. As for dealing Rios to SF for one of their young fireballers, I'd do it. Pitching beats hitting any day of the week.

Anyhow, what's the deal with Chacin? Anyone think this guy can pitch through an entire season without having a season ending surgery?
I think Chacin lost his spot Doc.. if he comes back, it's in the pen. I don't think he's a good pitcher anyways. He throws garbage. The only reason why he wins is because he's the beneficiary of a ton of run support.

Chacin either pitches his way into the rotation or he becomes a long man in the pen according to Mark. Janssen is seen in a more promising light than Chacin and for obvious reasons.

I think the Jays don't care about the financial aspect of the game any longer. I think they're in it now for the win espescially if Johan goes to the Bosox. As long as the moves make sense Uncle Teddy will shell out the cash.

The only concern I have is giving up on alot of our youth. Dustin McGowan is a good pitcher and if he pitches well and consitently then he's as good as Bedard et al in my opinion. If Bedard, Cain or Lincecum join this staff for AJ; then man, that is VERY solid!

"Pitching beats hitting any day of the week."

Thats exactly what i'm concerned about. Rios was our best hitter this year. We had one of the best staffs in baseball, and look how far it got us. Yes, you'll reply with everyone being hurt, i know and realize that, I just don't understand it.

I should have stated before that I loathe JP.

I've never met a person who loves JP. And yeah, that's my concern with trading Rios as well. But according to Mark, JP think that Lind can duplicate next seas what Rios does now!!!???!!!! This shows his ineptitude imo.

For some reason, I just can't get sold on Eric Bedard. I should be able to. His ERA has gone down each year he has been in the league and so has his WHIP. He has a good strikeout to walk ratio and he is slightly above .500 on his career (which is HOF material these days). Even when you look at his stats on a park adjusted basis, he still turns out okay.

Before he was shut down last year, people said he was on his way to the Cy Young, which is debatable. I just get a little nervous about a guy who hasn't been able to log 200 innings in a season and gets shut down with a lot of season to go (for an injury that many didn't think was that serious). Okay, he is in Baltimore, so that may account for being shut down early, nothing to play for.

Not sure why I am not completely sold on him, but would be nice to have a lefty more reliable than Chacin in the rotation.

Nothing will happen now now that the Giants inked Rowand.

Not a bad signing at all, but Mac can play 3rd base too or is Glaus back again next season?

Waste of 4.5 million. What can Eckstein do that Johnny Mac can't?

Touche...

I don't know. Is shortstop something we needed to improve on? No. JP knows how to waste the money. I can't wait until Glaus, Burnett and Thomas come off the books after this year.

Thomas will have a stellar season this year!!! I'll guarantee that, and AJ will have a career year, I'll guarantee that as well.

I like the Eckstein deal a lot, we get a world series MVP player. He's better offensively than JOhnny mac.
