I take offence to the CC Sabathia contract. This is why I don't like the Yankees organization. They have too much money to throw at Free Agents, it seems like they can sign whoever they want. It's not a level playing field and I have doubts that the Jays can ever make the playoffs if things don't change.

Free agent right-hander A.J. Burnett has reached preliminary agreement on a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the New York Yankees, according to ESPN.
Let's see how this twat deals with being a Yankee.

Burnett has wicked stuff and always loved watching the guy pitch. However; I hope he pulls a Pavano on the Yankees

The fact that The Yankees also got State money to build their new "fortress" is also a piss off. When Yankee fans rub the wins in everyone faces I always say WHY? They spend 6 times more than the Rays and still will have to pull off some september wins to top them this year.

Burnett was crzy during the last few months of the season but I'm pretty sure he'll pull a pavano on the yankee's ...for the longest part, he wasn't the guy behind the ace we thought we'd get ...he only started throwing fire when the trade speculation began.

Yankees could get burned by A.J.

Remember Yankees GM Brian Cashman said last winter that the team was going to commit to a youth movement

I think the Jays should try to get Phil Hughes or Ian Kennedy from the Yanks

Now they have CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Chien-Ming Wang, Joba Chamberlain, Andy Pettitte

pettitte is a FA. their fan base will never allow them to commit to a true youth movement. the empire keeps moving

Don't really know a lot about the FA's this season but there are a lot of good pitchers out there so we should be able to pick up a few...i hope

The Jays are in NO position to add any FA's. Why would they? They're behind Boston, New York and Tampa in terms of talent and Baltimore isn't far behind. Time to trade all the vets and restock the farm system.

Before you see any real FA signings, you're going to hear a lot more talk of things like Janssen heading into the starting rotation, Scott Downs probably going there too...then a kid from AAA will suddenly be ready. The Matt Clement signing was worth the risk (it's a minor league contract), but the Jays don't have the cash and apparently are going to sit on the money they just saved on AJ.
