same reason why Strasburg is playing for the Nats right now, but this might be a different situation
AA said he's going to keep him in AAA for the whole year though, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's called up in September

gotcha. thanks. I'm not that familiar with the technical side of contracts and finances in baseball.

The Blue Jays are close to signing Venezuelan righty Adonis Cardona, according to ESPN.com's Keith Law. The prospect can't officially sign with the Blue Jays until the July 2nd signing period opens. The terms of the deal aren't clear, but some July 2 free agents do sign seven figure deals. As Law points out, such early agreements do not always hold up.

Yeah, I caught the highlights. He was getting quite testy with the reporters after the game.

With this team's pitching, as long as they stay healthy....dare i say they very well might have a pretty decent season and may not have as much of a drop off as last season. I love this starting pitching rotation.

Correct.

A MLB rookie can go for arbitration after he has 3 years of MLB services. You see this with a lot of players who are still in their rookie contract.

Basically that is why the Nats are waiting to bring up Strasburgh like you stated. If they bring him up on June 4th OR after they will get him for this year and the next three years. If they bring him now(or when the season started) they would only get this year and two years later before he can go for arbitration and get major money.

An good example is Tim Lincecum. After last season it was his 3rd season in the MLB. Before this year he went for arbitration and him and the Giants agree to a new contract. 2years 23million.

Basically when you call up a player you get him for 3years in MLB services on his rookie contract(which is like $575,000 an year or around that). After that is when they official get paid their big contract. I'm a Reds fan and this is going to be Joey Votto 3rd year(making $550,000 this year). After this year he will get paid big money. Hopefully the Reds give it to him also and keep him here for a long time.

I read this comment on TSN and its true

This Jays team reminds me of the hilarious baseball movie 'Major League'. A bunch of no-names, has beens, late free agent pick ups...not expected to win, but end up surprising everyone. They pick up a bullpen stopper ('Wild Thing' with glasses = Kevin Gregg with glasses), a washed up, back-up catcher (Jake Taylor = John Buck), and a speedster (Willie Mays Hayes = Fred Lewis), and what have you got? The 2010 Jays!

haha nice one windex.

So Vernon Wells is tied with Joe Carter for 2nd with most blue jays home runs. He moved ahead of George Bell recently. Congrats to Vernon Wells for such a big accomplishment. Now he hasn't had the same kind of teams around him that those guys had so it's not fair to compare his success and theirs, but in a way this accomplishment is almost symbolic of him as a player. He's been known to be anti-clutch... the guy that can't get the job done when the game is on the line, but he'll deliver when the game is out of reach or when it's already a blow-out. Kind of the same thing with him being so high on the record list: No one really noticed him get there. I didn't.

Anyways, good for him. After a horrid year last season, he's bounced back very nicely. I'd love for him to keep it up.

The Jays have released Randi Ruiz. Apparently he is going to play in Japan and already has a deal in place. Too bad he didn't get much of a chance here.
