I was at the game last night. I miss the days of exciting Blue Jays ball with the full ball parks. And we use to get into the ex for free with $4 Jay tickets at Ex Stadium!!

Just the same, I enjoyed the game last night. Some great defensive plays from both teams. Timely hitting for the Jays.

And...well...some exceptional ladies all over the park!! Booya!

HHAHA...Nope...not this time. But there is rumblings that she might play on our softball team next year. She's an excellent player. And apparently....a PLAYA!

Good move on their part by not parting with Snider and Cecil. I think Snider is going to be that powerhouse cleanup hitter this team hasn't seen since Delgado. Cecil is a lefty who they're converting to a starter - and should be a decent one. Bay is a good player, but that's too much to relinquish. This team needs to build from the farm system up - much like the Rays, because they don't have the resources to hang with the Yankees and Sox.

IMHO the Jays can't lose by picking up a 29 year old Canadian All-Star, even if they end up giving away a couple guys that "might" be good one day.

They win on and off the field. He's a hell of a player and what's a better boost for sagging attendance/ratings than Canadian boy makes good in the States and comes home...

Snider has mashed up every level he's been at so far. I'm sure the Jays will call him up in September and he'll be in the league full time next season, if not, then definitely 2010.

The Jays tried signing a Canadian slugger a few years back in Corey Koskie, but that never panned out. I don't think the acquisition of Jason Bay would put that many more asses in the seats. He's not that much of a draw. It would be very marginal.

The Jays are not in a position of contention. They can't hang with the Yanks or Sox because of fiscal responsibilities and they can't hang with the Rays because their young talent is just too potent. The best thing to do is blow it up and restart. Acquiring Bay while relinquishing your 2 best prospects is not a good move. That's a move you do when you're in contention.

Meh, maybe you're right, but I've never considered Koskie a "slugger" and he was hurt the whole time he was in TO, wasn't he?

The Jays are so poorly mismanaged it doesn't matter anyway.

My old man scored box seat tickets for next Thursday against the Yankees.

Never having been to a Jays game since Exibition Stadium, am I taking my life into my own hands if I wear my Red Sox jersey?

No....people will think you are an idiot for wearing a sox jersey to a Jays/Yanks game.

Let me know if you are down early for some beers...or after for that matter.

True.

When I was at Fenway for a Sox/Tigers game there were Yankees fans and I thought they were a bunch of dolts...and then they got their asses kicked.

I'll figure out the details, but my dad mentioned going to Gretzky's before the game...

I think anyone gives a shit. People wear all sorts of jerseys to the game. You see people with soccer, football, basketball and hockey jerseys at the game, so I don't think people will care if you wore your BoSox jersey.

Speaking of Yankees, I scored a pair of tickets to the second last game ever to be played at "The Stadium" in late September. Anyone ever been to Yankee Stadium for a game?

Gretzky's has great wings.. so does Hooters.. and it's right down the street as well. Avoid places like Casey's and Jack Astors if you can. Gretzky's, Hooters and the Loose Moose on Front are the best choices. If you head a couple of blocks north to King Street, Philthy McNasty's is okay - no real crowd, and I recommend Elephant and Castle at Simcoe and King - good English pub food.

Hoops: that's pretty freaking amazing. Take photos. enjoy the moment!

Acie: yeah. i'm with hoops. wear whatever you want. Technically your shirt will be relavent as the Sox are rivals to both teams. anyways, aren't you going to be sitting in a box? in which case, i can't see anybody hassling you.

BTW. Lemme know if there will be any pre / post game festivities. I may stop in for a pint.

Elephant and Castle is the best of the lot. I went to Gretzky's once and thought the prices were too touristy.
another recommendation is shoeless joes on QueensQauy. 5 minutes south of the dome on foot - so it's the most proximate of the others. also, I live across the street!

Maybe I'll wear my Expos jersey. hehe

Thanks Hoops, but I think we get free food and drinks at the game, so my dad offhandedly mentioned stopping at Gretzky's because as he put it, "Wayne's got all sorts of neat shit in there..."

My buddy went to Yankee Staduim last year and he basically said it's a really rowdy crowd, but as long as you pretend like you're a Yanks fan you're fine.

I'll let you guys know exactly what's going on when we finalize what we're doing.

I went to the game about a month ago and a guy sitting a couple of rows in front of me wore an Expos jersey - I thought it was pretty cool. I wore a New Zealand All Blacks jersey and a family from England sitting in the row across from me wore Sunderland FC jerseys.

Thanks for the heads up Acie. I heard it was a pretty rowdy crowd, so I'll definitely purchase some cheap Yanks swag before I head to NYC.

Labbatt's box seat FTMFW.

As much free Stella as I could drink.

The Jays crushed the Yanks today.
