That guy was just about the best thing going at the Rogers Centre.... often more entertaining than the game. OK, not often....... always!! They are fucking assholes for not even giving him a warning first.
That dude was the best. I'm not a huge beer drinker myself, but whenever I'd go to a Jays game, I'd buy a beer from him because he's "the famous beer guy"

The Bartman thing is hilarious because really it was Alex Gonzalez of Blue Jay fame who cost them that game. But Cubs fans are generally to quick to jump on something moronic, so let them jump on that.

Before they'd installed Fieldturf, I'd emailed the CEO, John, to ask what was taking them so long to rip out the Astroturf. He didn't know and basically said they were really difficult to deal with. They eventually put his product on the field, and I emailed him again to ask why they hadn't gone with an all dirt infield. He told me the dolt who designed the dome put no drainage in the floor which is problematic when you have to water the dirt.

OK guys, with the tradeline next Thursday, do you think we still stand a good chance to deal Burnett or are we stuck with him?

I think we either are stuck or have to sell cheap.

Stuck with him. Teams are gonna low-ball us. I'd rather him opt out as a type A free agent and get 2 first round picks.

It's weird because only a week or two ago they were saying he was one of the hottest commodities out there because teams wanted to load on pitching for the stretch. He's currently pitching some his best ball. It's just a damn shame his contract is so fackin' huge.

It's not insomuch that teams are afraid of his contract. Teams are afraid of his opt out clause that kicks in at the end of the season.

Big 3-way trade
Manny Ramirez to Dodgers
Jason Bay to Red Sox
4 prospects to Pirates

I like the deal for both the Red Sox and Dodgers, I'm not up to date on how good the prospects are for Pirates, but they might as well try to rebuild in that sense by moving Bay.

I don't know much about MLB, and I don't think I watched one full game yet.

But why the hell is Boston trading Manny? Isn't he like, the heart and soul of that team or something?

He wanted out and his contract ended this summer if he didn't pick up the options for 09 and 10, considering he wanted out, they probably would've lost him for nothing. Jason Bay is just as good at him at this point anyways and much younger.

Oh alright, thanks for that. A lot clearer now.

I'm just referring to all those highlights of him I see on TheScore about the "Manny Ramirez Show" or something

What a guy

Dude, as far as I know Boston has a huge hispanic community.

The whole "Manny being Manny" thing was getting old though. I think it was time for him to move on.

i remember him saying that a couple of seasons ago....

i always thought his annual trade requests were kinda funny

'okay manny, we tried but no one wants to pay you 20+ million a season'

'rats, next year!'

Andy LaRoche is a player. The Dodgers just never found room for him on the roster but he is a player. Interestingly enough he is the brother of Pirates first basemen Adam LaRoche.

Manny was good and all, but considering his age right now how much longer could he keep up with his pace? Not very much longer. Bay's 7 years younger and a helluva baseball player. I personally think the Dodgers were the losers in this deal big time.

Hmmm .... according to York we could of had Bay, but declined because of who they had to give up to get him.

Front-office sources with the Pittsburgh Pirates told Metro yesterday that, before MLB’s July 31 trade deadline, they made a two-for-one proposal in which they would have dealt Canadian all-star Jason Bay to Toronto for minor-leaguers Travis Snider and Brett Cecil.

The Jays mulled it over and declined. Snider is a power-hitting outfielder/first baseman. Cecil is a left-handed pitcher. Baseball America ranks the two as the Jays’ most promising minor-leaguers.

Bay, a B.C. native, wound up in the Boston Red Sox’s outfield as part of a three-way deal that sent the Pirates prospects and the Los Angeles Dodgers all-star outfielder Manny Ramirez.

Bay has excelled with Boston so far. He entered last night with six runs and a .315 average in 16 at-bats.

our OF is already log jammed enough as it is. Bay is nice, but it would hurt us too much giving up those types of specs for him
