If this is true, Toronto is getting Kyle Drabek. If true, that is a steal. Also, I believe Taylor is coming too. D'arnaud is an interesting addition.

I really think Toronto have come out like bandits if some of the names are true.

Who said Drabek? Last i heard it was Happ D'Arnuad, Taylor and possibly Brown or Aumont.

I herad that the Phillies were pretty adament about keeping Drabek. I hope you're right though, Drabek would make this a great deal.

Just saw on Sportsnet that it's:

Happ
Armaud
Drabek
or
Brown
and another player

Fuck me, Brown is a good prospect as well. That deal is really good.

From ESPN:
Quote:
Initially, sources said, Toronto was to receive Aumont, d'Arnaud and another Phillies prospect in exchange for Halladay. The Phillies had balked at sending Brown.

The latest structure would send Phillies outfielder Michael Taylor, Phillies catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud and a Phils pitcher -- either Kyle Drabek or J.A. Happ -- to Toronto, sources said. And indications Monday night were that that pitcher was likely to be Drabek. Under that scenario, the Phillies would not have to include their top position-player prospect, Domonic Brown, and they would receive Seattle's top pitching prospect, Phillippe Aumont, who originally appeared ticketed for Toronto.
Sources: Roy Halladay to Philadelphia Phillies, Cliff Lee to Seattle Mariners deal close - ESPN

I've heard that a Mariners SS prospect could be involved

I also heard
Phillippe Aumont, ranked #26 by scouting book
http://www.scoutingbook.com/players/p2193
Michael Taylor, #42
http://www.scoutingbook.com/players/p2454
Michael Saunders, #53
http://www.scoutingbook.com/players/p2346
Travis D'Arnaud

both of these guys are Canadian

here is a bit on the players

Quote:
Michael Taylor
A 6-6, 250lb monster back in high school, Taylor smashed 19 total homers in just under 500 at-bats. He strikes out a bit too much, especially on quality breaking pitches, but the Phillies system has never shied away from big strikeout numbers, so he'll probably be allowed to smash and swish, as long as he produces overall. As an outfielder, he has limited range, though his speed is probably average, or even a bit better than average. His strong throwing arm that suggests right field is his natural position. While his approach at the plate looks crude, he's actually a pretty polished product
Scouting Book: The Book on Michael Taylor

d'Arnaud is still going to be in the minor for at least another year
I heard that he could be a great defensive catcher and he's an average bat

Why are the Phils getting prospects? We need as many as we can get, especially top pitching prospects, I hope we get all of the above , I mean come on, we traded Doc

If the deal is indeed Drabek, Taylor and d'Arnaud, that's one damn good deal for the Jays. Drabek has been dazzling since his return from Tommy John surgery and probably has been a better pitcher post surgery simply because he has been able to mentally mature.

Taylor, albeit a bit on the older side as far as prospects go, will be given every oppourtunity to be opening day right fielder. He can mash.

The wildcard in all of this is d'Arnaud. He was a former supplemental 1st rounder back in 2007 i believe. A lot of people will look at his disappointing season last year statistically, but the kid has a lot of power. Look at his ISO percentages and his XBP (Extra Basehit Power) percentages and they've been relatively around the same since he came on the scene in 07. Power is something that doesn't really fade in catchers. His ISO and XBP percentages are just as high and better in a lot of cases as some of the game's best offensive catchers when they were his age. A lot of Phillies fans didn't want to give up d'Arnaud and see him as the heir apparent to Ruiz. d'Arnaud is about 3 years away. Drabek is about 1-2 (although he'll tell you he can pitch in the majors right now) and Taylor can probably step in right now.

It's a good haul considering the longer the Jays waited, the less they would have received - at least in quality. And it's better than the 2 1st rounders we would have received when Roy would have walked at the end of the year.

Sirotka was a different case. Physicals have to be done and the Jays will do their due dilligence. Sirotka was coming off of a torn labrum after the 2000 ALDS and never recovered. Drabek had the surgery already and has pitched a full season since. I'm sure if he was damaged goods, the Jays would know.

I was watching Sportsnet late last night before bed, just to see how the Roy dealio was being reported. It was the second story, after hockey of course. Anyway, the segment lasted all of 45 seconds and, when it was over, the idiot sportscaster says, "OK! Enough about baseball, back to hockey!" Why? Why would you do that to your own product?

At least Sportsnet lead with the story. I think TSn lead with the Canucks-Kings game.

And the guy you heard say that was probably Don Taylor. He sucks. If it's not the Canucks, WHL, or UBC, he doesn't care.

I would put TSN at the top of that list. Then again SN isn't any better.

That's why TSN isn't really a sport(s) network, they are the "Sport" network. They should just call themselves THN and call it a day already.

I'm more excited to get Taylor here. I'm curious what Cito could do for his swing. I know Philly fans are pissed that he's in the deal.
