i loved watching Antoine Valois-Fortier win that bronze. Seeing him overtaken with emotion after the fight was awesome. That's the kind of stuff i love about the olympics.
Christine Girard's was also pretty sweet.

Another big thing to come out of yesterday was Canada advancing in women's soccer. Being down 2 to a very high ranked team in a game that could put them out and then to make it through.... well that's a pretty big deal. HUGE task against UK next, but i think they can do it.

The eight women involved in last night's badminton match-throwing scandal have been kicked out of the Olympics.

I just finished watching the Canadian pair win their badminton game and now are in the semi's. Canada was put in as one of the replacement pairs as a result of the teams being banned. LOL.

I absolutely LOVE seeing teams kicked out of the Olympics for intentional losing!

I'm pretty involved in competitive sport (now as a coach), and losing on purpose is disgraceful. You train your whole life to get to a certain point, and it's a very bad reflection of your skills/confidence/sportsmaship to go out -especially on an international stage in front of the world - and try and go to throw a match.

The fact that it indirectly positively affects Canadians is an added bonus, but I'd be just as pissed if it was the Canadian team that threw matches too.

honestly who cares. Too much is made out of the medal count if you ask me. These athletes can only compete within themselves. who are we to demand certain prizes? What is it to us? You know that the athletes there are giving it their all - and in some cases more than their bodies are capable more (well sort of - see 8 rowers not able to climb out of their boat after race). I get excited when i see one of our athletes win bronze. Seeing Hayden do that in the pool yesterday and how happy he was afterwards was awesome. That's what the olympics are all about.

Yeah, to be honest i don't care what colour the medal is. I want a good medal count but i don't get the people that frown at all our bronze medals. Who cares, they are medals. It would be great if we got 30 gold medals but really does it matter all that much?
