I'm absolutely gutted.

But SO proud of Sinclair and the gals. Very gutty performance. Hope that they play like that in the Bronze medal game and don't feel too sorry for themselves.

What a sequence by Iggy! The strip and the steal, between the legs pass for a fast break opportunity, and then runs the floor for a big put back slam.

Good or bad goal ?

No one's answered you yet, and not sure if you've seen the highlights, but it was definitely a legit goal. A cross from wide right of the field and a header into the top middle of the goal.

Disappointing, but it was a legit goal, and not a flukey one...so...there's that, I guess.

I watched the whole game - it was very reminiscent of the Can vs USA women's hockey game in I believe Salt Lake City.

USA women's hockey was number one all year dominating Canada - but then in the finals Canada seemed to have this magic, and despite not even god-awful officiating but what seemed like obviously biased officiating, Canada still prevailed and took gold - and they've dominated the US since.

That game yesterday seemed like Canada had that same magic - like no bad call would hold them back. Incredibly disappointing - they deserved the win.

They did have some relatively weak players on the field compared to the US though. Lots of room for improvement especially on the defensive end of the field.

I just wish they had been able to keep possession more after getting a lead. I was actually calling for the goalkeep to hold onto the ball for a bit just before the dumbass call. As much as Canada couldn't hold a lead, that 3rd US goal was just such a shitty way to be undone.

bjjs, LX, thanks for those posts. Upsets in the true form are rarely dominating performances, you can see during the game who the superior talent is. It's just such a special moment when the stas align and everything that can happen, does. Canada's goals were beautiful, for the moments they happened, they looked like an amazing team, crisp passing, and deadly execution. When they werent scoring though, they were holding on for dear life.

The Officials killed the chance for amazing history to be made, and thats heart breaking, but thats sports too... you dont always win, and sometimes, you never do.

i fucking hate CTV's coverage. Soooo much time filling instead of actually showing the events. Sorry, but i don't give a shit about watching 'spuerbodies' with that doctor, or the difference makers or the skits where some other athletes try their hand at olympic sports. It's ridiculous. There are so many events going on at any time, yet we have to watch gargbage filler. Also i tend to watch the recaps at 7:00pm mostly, and doing that in that timeslot is infuriating. Show the goddam sports! Another problem i have is knowing when certain events are. i really hope CBC get the coverage to olympics back.

As for the soccer i am mad. This one is up there with the '93 Leafs and Kings game for me. That's all i'll say because i don't want to talk about it..

CTV coverage is TSN. I agree, CBC is far better even though Brian Williams drives me nuts no matter what station he's on. As for soccer, thankfully I hate the sport. If I didn't I would have lost it.

It's sad how Canada lost that game. Anywho, hopefully they can beat the French. I was watching Russia vs. Brazil today - Women's Volleyball. It was a great sight to see (the game and the players )

You read the quotes and whatnot after the game and it is just more frustrating. The potential suspensions, Americans giving no props to Canada for their play.

31 year old referee...Wombat admitted to manipulating her into calling the foul on the Canadian goal-keeper by counting out the seconds. Ridiculous.

all the while checking to see if Tancredi has any US relatives that would potentially make her eligible to play for them!

I made that up, but you know they don't want to play against her ever again. she was a wrecking crew out there!

Stayed up late to watch Adam Van Koeverden (hopefully) win, and he lead for most of the race, but got over-taken at the end and got Silver.

Now hoping that Mark Oldershaw can pick up another medal!
