IMHO, they over paid for him....hes not the best safety in the league*cough*Polamalu*cough*...but giants have the money and they need help defensively, so its a good pickup for the giants...

falcons and dunta robinson agreed to a supposed 6 year deal with 27 million guaranteed. it hasn't been announced finalized yet, but it's the only team (home town) that he is negotiating with.

i love it. it might be pricy coming off the poor season he just had last year, but he's still considered one of the better corners in the league.

they tried 3-4 last season and failed miserably...so they are going back to 4-3 for the next season...

hes one of my favorite players...tough as nails and has great hands and tends to make those impossible catches in crunch time...he is a legit 2...as much as i love jermey maclin, avant deserves to get more playing time....

he is soo good in traffic, and in third down situations...

Good comparison. Avant is solid, but he's not a saviour. He's a 3rd or 4th receiver. Like I said, I want to know how much the Eagles paid for him - and you know they overpaid for him.

he brings toughness and clutch play, and like i said earlier, hes excellent in third down situations, and to add to that hes got amazing hands...

he brings things that the eagles receiving core is missing, both maclin and jackson are soft but are fast. avant on the other hand isnt that quick but is an excellent rout runner, and great in traffic...

i as an eagles fan am very happy about this signing...and to be honest i could care less if they overpaid for him, we have all the cap room we need...

now only we could somehow trade maclin for marshall

The Steelers also bolstered their special teams -- a weakness last season -- by signing wide receiver Arnaz Battle and safety Will Allen to three-year contracts. La Canfora reported via a league source that Battle's deal is worth $3.9 million and Allen's is worth $4.5 million.

Battle spent seven seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and played in 88 games as a wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner. He has 178 receptions for 2,150 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career.

Giants did overpay for Rolle but they were desperate. Its a good chance Phillips might gone for his career due to that terrible kneed surgery. Also, if you watched any giants games last year their secondary was absolutely brutal. Rolle one of the best secondary players available and with all their corners back healthy and phillips hopefully back the Giants look all shored up and can move forward.
