@ SJ.

Tempo isn't that great case you are decelerating on your back-swing near the top. That is why you aren't bringing to all the way to parallel. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if you have a bit of a fade in your shot.

Your knee going conkey isn't a big deal, some of the greats swings weren't textbook(see Palmer, Arnold) but it is consistancy.

But come one, pull up the panties and take a full swing.

if he had won, nobody would question his skills again. still he played better than i thought. his putting was questionable however.

It's crazy, there's a par 3 course here in Calgary, and it's 9 holes. It costs you $13 to play it, and it you want to play it twice - the second round is $7. So it's $20 for 18 holes.

It's a fun little course, but I didn't realize that playing it so much had helped my short game immensely. When I went out and played at a "real" course, the short part of my game had gone from one of the worst parts of my game, to one of/if not THE best.

If anyone wants to hit up a few rounds this year at either Granite Ridge or Turtle Creek I'm in.
That is, if you don't mind helping me find my shots on other fairways

I usually hit those two courses up because:
A) they're cheap at twilight
B) they're awesome value for price.

I need to head out the the range this year, might go Wednesday if the weather isn't crap.

Also I agree with Snooch, Man up SJ, Geez

i miss playing golf. I played it a lot for 2 summers some 5 years ago. My friends and i played all the cheap courses we could find. It was fun, but i can see how it just starts getting too time consuming and too expensive to do somewhat regularily.

i played religiously (started at approx age 14) up until the year 2002...once i got my motorcycle i found myself hitting the roads instead of the links
but damn i love the game
i could hit the ball a mile but was a little below average around the green

i've often thought they should change the name of the game from Golf to "Aww Shit"

I loved playing. Man even when i stunk it up on the golf course (which was most of the time) i had a hell of a lot of fun.

i still love playing as long as i'm nowhere near toronto. when you consider the travel times from downtown and the packed courses (and huge fees) it takes nearly 7 hours to play a round, regardless of how good you are. lineups 2-3 groups deep at every hole just make the game miserable. i'd much rather not miss a full day with my kid. clublink has done a lot to ruin golf in the gta.

when i play in hamilton with my buddy and we are no more than 4.5 hours, from the time we leave his place until we are home again drinking beer.

for me it was feeling i got first thing in the early morning

heat from the warm sun shining on your face on cool mornings...fresh dew on the ground..hot cup of coffee at the 1st tee
and that feeling (and sweet sound) of hitting the ball...sound of the cleats walking down a trail etc etc

and no matter how piss poor i played...if i made just 1 really good shot, it would bring me back for more

Yeah i had a close friend living in Hamilton and we used to play a place called chedoke a lot. It was 10 minutes from his house and really cheap (back then). Something like $20 for the front 9. It was probably my favorite course.

my buddy lived around the corner from chedoke. i have played there many times. hamilton golf and country club is a much better course, but there was something fun about chedoke and beers.

actually now that i think about it i think it was more like $20 something for the entire 18 holes back then (at chedoke). It was a real bargain.

I've never golfed. What's a good starter course should I choose to?

the driving range or maybe the par 3 at dentonia.

no offense intended, but the last thing anyone wants to see on the golf course is a person in front of them that absolutely doesn't know how to play. you really need to practice first at a driving range and make sure you know how to hit the ball. from there you can play at a par 3 to practice your skills around the green. once you can confidently make contact and make a chip and a putt, even if you are shitty at it, you are ready to try playing on a real course. the game just takes too long for a person with no idea how to play to be on there in the miidst of everyone else.
