![]() I was at the game yesterday and before we went into the stadium I said to my girlfriend, "This is what it was like every game back in the day..." with the hordes of fans. People were pumped up and buying tickets off scalpers. As awesome as the game was, the fans were even better - cheering good plays and jeering missed calls. We're a smart sports town but we've been fucked over a few too many times. Baseball isn't in our blood the way hockey is. How many Canadian sports columnists have yammered on about American fans not getting 'our game'? It's the same shit and it ain't fair.
Regardless, we saw Jose drill another while Jon Rauch tore the ump a new one. And all the while we were there, being the incredible fans we are and the incredible fans we will be, once this shit turns the corner. |

![]() what we average is horrible especially for market size, location of stadium and price. The team is decent with the top vote getter in MLB. The place is a ghost town 60 out of 81 games. Seems like everyone just makes the excuse of waiting for playoff wins and then the average will automatically jump 10,000 per game to get to a respectable number.

![]() umm.. Baseball is horribly boring.
If the team is not just losing, but fighting from an uneven playing surface, year in, and year out, why would people want to waste their money to go watch?? People suffer from a misguided sense to support things just because they are there. The TFC sucks. But the fans are there..... but lets see what happens if the MLS is still there in 20 years and Toronto never fields a winning team. MLB doesn't give a flying fuck about the Jays, never will. NYY and Boston in the post season is a cash cow. Nobody gives a shit about Toronto. Thats that. |

![]() baseball can be the most tense and exciting sport in north america. some people suffer from a misguided sense to diss things just because they are there.
it's not wasted money to watch and support something you love - something that brings you back to your childhood and the ways that you bonded with your father and grandfather. sports isn't always about watching the best in the world compete. growing up, for me, sports was about schoolyards and sandlots, catch in the backyard and all that nostalgic stuff. i love to watch the jays, win or lose, and i love to listen to them on the radio, because that's what i did every summer as a kid. i grew up on the game, and it's embedded in some of my earliest memories. mlb may not give a flying fuck about the jays (although i completely disagree with that), but i sure as hell do. and that's that superjudge. |

It is what it is. People like coming out to games that mean something. ?If and when the games start to mean something (i.e. team is in some sort of race), then the crowds will become pretty good. |

![]() Television numbers support the fact that the Jays have a large audience, just not willing enough to go to the park.
I guess they may be the most intelligent fans out there. Show me something to get excited about, unlike a certain team where no matter what, the fans show up like cows to a slaughter. |

![]() Baseball is great. Hang out in the sunshine with your sons or dad or good friends, enojoying a cold drink. Explosions of power and feats of athleticism and grace....Incredible tense moments when nobody is moving a muscle.... love it.
Unfortunately, our beloved Jays play in a concrete tomb that has all the atmosphere of a prison, and concessions that make you feel like you have been taken for a fool every time you want to buy a snack or beverage. |

As for the snacks/beverage they're no more expensive then any other sports venue in this city where people flock to, to watch shit teams. The Jays are the most reasonable ticket in town when it comes to MLB/NHL/NBA and it isn't even close. Plus, don't like the price of snacks/beverages, nobody forces you to buy those products. Have a bite to eat before the game and go to the game on a budget, if you go knowing the prices and spend anyway, don't bitch. |

![]() What does marketing have to do with everyday people going to a ball game? All i'm saying is that even with prices of the snacks/beverages, the Jays tickets are by far the most reasonable and they're currently the best pro team in this city and it's not even close. Sad as that may be it is what it is. The price of beverages/snacks always seems to come up when people complain about going to a Jays game. Which i never understood, they're pretty much the same prices as going to a Leaf game or Raptors game. Difference is though, the tickets to get into the venue are 10x cheaper. So to me that argument is bogus.

But they don't sell it that way.... that's not good marketing. They talk about how delicious it is, how refreshing it is. You don't see them saying, "yes, it's very overpriced but you knew that so fuck off and stop bitching". that wouldn't be good marketing. understand? |
