You only get ripped off, when you choose to get ripped off imo. Nobody is forcing you or i to spend the absurd prices. They tell you how delicious it is sure, but it's nothing you haven't had before and you know if something is overpriced, You pay 5.00- 6.00 for a shit slice of Pizza you shouldn't bitch about the price. I don't care if they tell you it's brought in from Italy on a gold platter. It's not as if you've never had Pizza before. Sorry, but i don't go to a sporting event to stuff my face with food & Beer. And if i choose to do so i know i'm overpaying therefor i won't bitch about.
This sounds very much like someone who doesn't have kids.

And if you choose not to spend because you know it's a ripoff.... don't you think that takes loads away from the "experience" of going to the ball game?

The prices are a rip off. Of course they are, never said they weren't. I just said they were absurd prices. But my point is, i don't have to pay those prices. I know those things are over priced, therefor if i choose to pay the prices i shouldn't complain. I could just as easily not stuff my face for three hours. And no it doesn't take away from going to a ball game at all. And no, i don't have kids, but if i did and brought them to a sporting event i certainly would make sure they were fed prior to going to a game. And i would make sure that they enjoy the GAME as much as possible and have them realize they didn't need to stuff their faces with fatty discgusting overpriced food to enjoy the game.

Put it this way, feed them brunch. Take them to an afternoon game buy them one beverage and enjoy. If they don't understand that, they wouldn't go to another game until they did understand that. Good lord, your kids don't understand so you overspend and feed them then complain about it? Who runs the show anyways. I understand it is isn't that simple, but shit man.

On Saturday, we bought two fairly good tickets above the Jays dugout, two bottles of water, one diet Coke and one pretzel. 380 dollars with parking, which is kinda insane. Three weeks worth of groceries to sit and watch a game for 3 hours.

To echo your point (and to counter Jeff's) i don't think the ticket prices for baseball games are that good at all. Other than the 500 level, tickets aren't cheap. Baseball seems pretty much on par with all the other major sports.

I made a mistake. 280 dollars. But still, for two people and no food...

i went to a mariners game on the father's day sunday against the phillies. we had the seats right at the right field foul lines next to ichiro. my tickets cost $45, which i think is pretty good and the seats were decent. how much would that seat cost in rogers centre?

Yes, man and we will do it again.

Unfortunately, the only chance I've had to go this year was on an evening I had a gig.

exactly. the tickets to a jays game are incredibly cheap. family of 4 can watch a game for 100$ depending on the seats. which i never understood the argument of how expensive it is which comes up more with the jays which makes little to no sense to me.
