Canada vs. Russia

GAME ON.

DVS 02-24-2010 09:28 AM

Pronger should stay true to his New Philly Flyers Colours and break Ovechkins Leg akin to the 1972 Summit Series.

bah! Canada has every chance to win this game that the Russians do. It should go right down to the wire.

HAHAHAHA well its the one overlooked aspect of 1972. Everyone just remembers Henderson and thats about it.

As for the game tonight, I dunno if its the ONLY chance its just one game. Roberto could stand on his head and Canada could be smart and not ice Pronger, Scotte, Bergeon and include every notch level lower Canadian player here (my opinion of course).

Who knows its one friggin game

all the teams in the Olympics have been good
I mean Norway only lost by a goal to Slovakia and Latvia played a close game
game depends on which goalie is great since these are 2 best offenses

So you refrain from your stance then

Canada does stand a good chance to win. Russia's top 6 is more talented than ours, but their bottom 6 are suspect. As is their defense. Nabokov hasn't really shown up in big games. So, this should be interesting.

I've seen Luongo stand on his friggin head to win playoff series but thats about it.

Personally, I find the goaltending a wash on paper and it'll be who really wants it more for this game IMHO

If I have to hear Don Cherry relive 72 once more, I will defect.

I think he is more of a 1976 guy since he coached that team

Luongo has won world championships for Canada. He also won that semi-final match against the Czechs in the World Cup in 2004. But in terms of the NHL, Luongo hasn't really won much. A couple of playoff series, but that's about it.

Luongo also has the most home victories (since moving to Vancouber) in the NHL. I think that will give him a small edge.

You're right though - the team that wins is the team that wants it more.

It's funny they won a round robin game and they suddenly think they have it on lock. I can guarantee that if they meet up again, Canada will beat the US into the ground.

MangoKidHoops 02-24-2010 10:28 AM

I will say this though: The winner of this game will win the gold.
