Best Team in Toronto is...

I'll say the Blue Jays. Even though people think they won't do well I think they'll surprise some people.

arguably the best pitcher in the league Roy Halladay.
They have good young pitchers
Brett Cecil, 22
Jesse Litsch, 23
Ricky Romero, 24
David Purcey, 26
Dustin McGowan, 26 (injured until June)
Shaun Marcum, 27 (injured for 09)

best bullpen in the league
(Scott Downs, Jesse Carlson, Brandon League, Jason Frasor, Brian Tallet, Shawn Camp, Brian Wolfe, Jeremy Accardo, BJ Ryan)

they got a pretty decent line up with some young talent
Scutaro, Aaron Hill, Alex Rios, Vernon Wells, Adam Lind, Scott Rolen, Lyle Overbay, Travis Snider, Rod Barajas

look for J.P. Arencibia to start at catcher once he comes up from the minors

Toronto FC. They're one or two defenders away from being a real threat in the MLS this year. Specifically at centre back. I'm pretty sure we'll get a couple of players in before the season starts.

But the midfield and offense will be very good this year. Even last year i would say that our problem wasn't scoring goals.

I'd love it if the jays did well, but i don't see it happening myself. There doesn't seem to be enough passion in the lineup. I don't like the character of most of our guys who aren't pitchers. I guess it will be interesting to see how Cito does for a whole year.

It is really too bad we didn't have Cito and Tennace for the whole season last year we probably would have made it to the playoffs.

Wells changed his attitude and worked out more ans Rios is getting batting advise from Cito b/c he said he's not hitting up to his potential

I think TFC will be good but with international duty during the season and the team gelling together you never know.
TFC probably has the most talented players in the league but that's a curse too b/c a majority of the team are picked for international duty and they will miss ~8 games

I don't think they're doing that well :confused2:

Toronto FC. They'll be MUCH better this year.

The Rock aren't doing very well, and the Jays.. well.. we can only hope they finish fourth, cause they have no shot at 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

Then again, the best Toronto area team could be the Brampton Battalion.

OHL. For $10, it's the best ticket in town. That team is exciting.

Is Eastern Commerce still killing cats on the court? I remember when I was in HS, it was always them and Runnymede...and Oakwood..and perhaps Mother Teresa.

'trane 02-23-2009 10:41 AM

i don't know, i just guessed. it was them and oakwood in my day. oakwood had greg francis and a 6'10" guy named kevin jobity. my teams never had a chance. eastern had jamal magloire in those days.

Not much of a hockey fan anymore. But are they the team with those ugly ass army green uniforms?

Yeah, they are of the green jerseys. I love 'em. I have one myself.

Actually, Eastern Commerce is #1 followed by Mother Teresa and Henry Carr (actually, Carr has become more of a basketball powerhouse over the past 10 years or so)...

When I was at St. Mike's, I remember guys like Magloire, Oakwood had a few decent guys - Dean Walker who played at Central Connecticut, Clifton Davis (who went to Laurentian). I remember Jean Vanier had a good progam too. One guy who played for them (I can't remember his name, but he was like 6'6" and could jump out of a gym) who's mom was Carlene Nation (CFTO news anchor)

'trane 02-23-2009 10:55 AM

what about north toronto? they had a 6'7" centre who was a powerhouse. a dominant big man with a sweet outside jumper... ;)

I'll go with the Jays they are problably the only team to reach .500 this year.

As for TFC I don't get how their team is so Talented. They got DeRo yes who might I add is getting older and had a pretty mediocore year last year.

They traded away their only CB for allocation money so they need to fill in that hole somehow. The Vitti kid is nothing but a project. I hope I'm wrong and I'm a little pessimistic I know but I just don't see them MUCH MUCH improved. Hopefully they make the playoffs cause those crazy fans deserve it.

So for me Jays it is

$-centz 02-23-2009 03:48 PM

Always been a Jays fan, hopefully their offense will catch up this season. Last season they had their pitchers doing great but Burnett is gone and I don't think it's fair to expect alot out of the young prospects

Gurk 02-23-2009 03:55 PM

I remembr I won a Brampton Battalion ticket but I didn't go. I am not a Hockey fan but this is a Raptors forum so I'll say the Toronto Raptors are the best
