do we have a luge thread sticked because if Canada gets gold a million dollars ++ will be shelled out?

fancylad 02-10-2010 10:15 PM

asweome thread Benzo. I love watching luge (and bobsled). seriously.

some Alberta based company is offering $1,000,000 to split between the luger (lugist?) and the Canadian luge program if someone wins a gold medal.

LX 02-10-2010 10:21 PM

It's great just to say over and over again. Loooooooooge.

DVS 02-10-2010 10:24 PM

is luge just one dicipline or is it the collection of all disciplines?

ie bobsleigh, skeleton etc etc

fancylad 02-10-2010 10:26 PM

well there is pairs luge in addition to single luge.

I wanna see that sport where they cross country ski but have a rifle attached to them. Instead of aiming for the targets I'd rather them use it on each other though.

I was at the torch rally Monday and it was crazy loud.

Surrey Leader - Torch turnout higher than expected

bjjs 02-10-2010 11:19 PM

Short-track speed skating

2010 Winter Olympics Thread

games starting tomorrow, I'm sure you guys will be watching in Canada

getting ready for some skeleton, luge, bobsleigh, snowboarding, hockey, skiing, speed skating and curling :dancing:

fancylad 02-11-2010 06:35 AM

I love watching the Olympics. More of a summer guy, but lots of the winter sports are cool to watch.... i guess there's something about the best athletes in the world that literally give every ounce of their effort in these competitions. Even sports that i don't normally watch can be compelling to me.

DVS 02-11-2010 09:16 AM

Bailey Not carrying the torch? Yes I do know he is a Summer Olympian but the most decorated Canadian Olympian should carry that torch dammit.

I call out West Coast Bias :)

I thought it was supposed to be a surprise, but whoever it is I know it will be underwhelming
maybe Nash or Wayne

There is a leak that their will be a Terry Fox Hologram. If they could pull that out it would be really, really cool

fancylad 02-11-2010 09:45 AM

how is Nash underwhelming?

He's from there (well Victoria), is probably the best athlete to come out of that area, is popular all over the world and is a Canadian Olympian himself.

I'm ment whoever they pick will be underwhelming, but Nash or Wayne would be good choices
Suns probably have a game though

DVS 02-11-2010 09:51 AM

Wayne won't get picked he wasn't even an olympian. I'm sure it'll be an oldschool gold medalist that most people don't even know (Nancy Green) or a person that really represents "canadian historical fabric" like an indian chief of some sort or Rick Hansen

I voted for Pamela Anderson myself wearing Seal Skin and a Peta watch

fancylad 02-11-2010 09:59 AM

Gretzky was.

He was part of that crappy Nagano team.

and windex... gotcha. i misunderstood.
