I don't think this is one of those results where you question the motives of the judging (i.e. favoritism, politics). I liked Plushenko because he was the only skater to execute a quadruple jump. He was a bit wonky in some of his other jumps even though he didn't fuck up any of their landings. Lysecek had a perfect skate, but again he didn't even try a quad. But then the analysts said his skate was better choreographed. I guess the result could have gone either way. I would have given it to the Russian.

Plushenko's choreography was lacking though ... I thought that his transition steps between jumps were weird (blowing those kisses every 5 seconds ... whaty?!). And he wobbled after landing two (I think) of his jumps. It's like he put all the effort into his jumps but hardly any thought into his choreography. Lysacek was just more consistent, I think ...

Anyway, happy with the results. Sad for Patrick Chan, but never really thought he stood a chance.

I thought Patty's choreography was extremely well-done, it really makes you wonder what could have happened had he not fallen and stumbled. I can't imagine how tough it was for him though, he's as old as I am and the pressure associated with a stage like that has to be overwhelming. He's got a ton of time, and two more winter olympics to bring it home.

Melissa Hollingsworth with a huge choke job in women's skeleton. Too bad. I'm sure she feels horrible considering how just an average run would have put her on the podium.

These things are frustrating for us fans and viewers, but can you imagine how devastating it must be for the athletes? Poor Melissa.

Hopefully Canada gets a medal with the men.

Ya I hear ya. Its like some competitions is ONE shot to show what you have and it took 4 years for you to prepare for it.

Its mega pressure for sure. I don't think even pros feel that pressure

I agree. I really enjoyed both of his performances ... I look forward to seeing him in Russia in 2014. He has a terrific future, I think.

'Evgeni Plushenko should be the 2010 Olympic champion. Under the discarded scoring system, he would be. But scandal forced the International Skating Union to change what was so easily manipulated. It's still manipulated, but by skaters who can't do the hard stuff, in cahoots with their clever choreographers.

That's impressive:

Simon Ammann warmed up with an Olympic record before going where no ski jumper has gone before.

The 28-year-old from Switzerland became the first-ever ski jumper to win four gold medals at the Winter Games with a sensational performance at Whistler Olympic Park on Saturday afternoon.

Ammann turned in a jump of 138 metres in the final after his 144m effort in the first round earlier Saturday to shatter the old Olympic mark of 141m.

Medal ceremony tonight? Awesome! So great to see Jon Montgomery get his medal ... and wicked to see the flag and sing the anthem.

If u go to Vancouver don't spit, piss,or smoke on the streets. There are cops everywhere and they are giving out 250 dollar fines like candy. Also 250 if u have alcohol. Saw so many cops make people dump out there beer and they also gave them tickets.
