didn't get to see the event live but I saw the highlights
good light show, sculptures and fans. The dome looked good
heard there was a glitch with something

1 of the four pillars that was supporting the olympic cauldron failed to rise. Wayne Gretzky, Steve Nash, and Nancy Greene all got to light there pillars but Catriona Doan never got to because her's was the pillar that never rised.

I wasn't impressed with these opening ceremonies. The awkward screw up toward the begining, the screw up at the end with the cauldron taking forever to come up, and then the stupid 15 minute ride Gretzky had to go on in the rain to light the outside one was painful to watch. Add to that some not so live singing.

Love to show her a good time but I'm sure she is married to some Calgary cat. Also I felt bad when her Calderon didn't deploy. Poor Doan.

Donovan Bailey should have been a part of the torch presentation. Very weak

The opening ceremonies were good overall. The light show and the projections were really top notch and very effective. The mountain bit was seriously impressive. Just goes to show how far the technology has come in our lifetime.

The torch lighting ceremony was just plain bad. why rely so much on gimmicks and hydraulics? they should have just simplified it - it would have saved them money and embarrassment.

Meacha Bruggergosman brought down the hizouse. That was my favorite song/performance of the whole ceremonies. She's cool.

I thought swings for the other team. Since they paraded
Steve Nash out there I was surprised Nickleback didn't make an appearance

I felt bad for the countries with one participant. Canada should rent a few of their athletes out to make it even.

They found out why the Olympic torch didn't properly go up. After seeing KD Lang on stage the part of the torch had other ideas rather than going up.

We talking about Lemay Doan??

She is cute, and she is married to Shane Doan.

we got our first already

5 km ice skating. was a big event going in, the guy who won only got beat in one time in the past 4 years so there as huge pressure on him. He had silver 4 years ago as a 19 year old. Even then he was disappointed with the result and already spoke about Vancouver.

There might be an orange bobsleigh too somewhere but ice skating is like the national sport over here especially in cold winters so he's a big celebrity here.

I heard American broadcasters say that Canada actually never won a gold in home games before. Montreal and Calgary.
