anyone going to a game?

Ugo Ferst 03-05-2009 09:18 AM

time to claim our rightful place on top of the baseball world (no, im not speaking about Canada).

Im going to Canada vs USA, but Dominican gonna ship this one home, it means so much to ppl back home im really hoping they do it.

Windex 03-05-2009 09:19 AM

no A Rod for the Dominican though

Ugo Ferst 03-05-2009 09:24 AM

rly, i heard arod was playing?? oh well, we didnt have him last time either and he felt the burn, we can go with an mvp or two, just how we roll

Windex 03-05-2009 09:25 AM

yankees don't want him to play b/c of his minor injury

Ugo Ferst 03-05-2009 09:27 AM

public outcry in dominican was so harsh when he decided to play for team usa last time, it was made pretty clear he either play for us or have a rough time going to the Dominican in the future ;) passionate fans baby!!

MangoKidHoops 03-05-2009 09:29 AM

A waning interest in baseball + economy = not a whole lot of fans.. at least not from the Toronto area at least. I suspect there will be a lot of fans coming across from New York state to catch the games however. If I'm not out or busy at home, maybe I'll tune into Sportsnet to catch an inning or two.

No pitching = DR will not be the champs.

It'll either be the States or Japan that takes it.

the doubters will be silenced, we have some underachieving arms, but if they can step up a bit, the bats will do more then their part, nobody has a lineup top to bottom that is comparable, even without all world Arod (altho i wish he would play, i wonder if the Yankees would take the same stance if he was still on Team USA??).

fancylad 03-05-2009 09:55 AM

so hold on... ALL of group C's games are gonna be at the dome?

Here we go again.. whatever man. The Yankees kept him out because they want him to be healthy for the season.

This tournament means NOTHING. A lot of stars bypass it because it means nothing to them.

DR does have a good lineup, but in the end, pitching always wins - something they don't have.

Yeah. The winner of group C goes to the semis in San Diego -or Anaheim - one of the two. I can't remember which venue is hosting the semis and finals.

Oh boy. we're gonna see a lot of blue. (i.e. empty seats)

The game in which you're gonna see a lot of blue is Italy and Venezuela. I think the promoters were trying to capitalize on Toronto's huge Italian population, but yeah, that ain't gonna happen.

the tourny might mean nothing to alot of ppl, but in the DR it means more then any sporting event and again, we will win, book it.

DR will make it out of their pool, but that's as far as they'll get.
DR has no pitching. And pitching win games, not offence.

I bought tickets to every game in Toronto. I'm a baseball junkie, going by myself, I don't care. I was up this morning watching China vs. Japan, went into work late to finish watching. I'm pumped for the upcoming games!

Windex 03-07-2009 01:41 PM

The Dutch are beating the Dominicans :evillaugh:

iRaptor 03-07-2009 01:47 PM

Let's go CANADA!

Windex 03-07-2009 01:48 PM

Canada's got some hitting power but I wish some of the top pitchers played
