anyone remember that 7 footer from an Oakville (i think) highschool? Ivan something? He was all arrogant and shit about making the NBA and would refer to himself in the third person in interviews... he went to europe right?

fancylad 08-05-2009 08:38 AM

just googled him. Ivan Chiriaev.

The NBA needs Ivan Chiriaev. lol.

Ivan was a terrible player.

I don't even want to get started on him.

Isn't Ivan close to 40 years old now? It seems like forever ago that people were talking about that kid.

Oh...

Tristan Thompson is the only name that I'm familiar with and by all accounts this kid sounds like he has a promising career. Let's just hope it translates to the professional level.

Based on talent level right now, Tristan and Cadougan seem like the most surefire bets. I know Tristan's an absolute gym rat, he'll be fine, can't speak to Cadougan though. Kabongo is playing with Tristan at Texas and is supposed to have a ton of talent and athletic potential, so we'll see what happens with him.

I hope Carl English somehow finds his way into the NBA, I know its not likely, but I'd really love to see it happen.

I think Tristan Thompson probably has the best chance to make the NBA. This will only happen if he develops and if he is a gym rat then his chances might be good. I don't think he has superior ball handling skills and at 6 foot 9 he is going to have to be swing man. He has time and should have a nice career at Texas. Canada has some nice college players and high school players of late. As for Corey Joseph he looks good but is hard being a guard and making it to the leauge... So many good guards. He may have an outside chance.

If anybody here has heard of Mangisto Arop he is absolutely tearing it up at the Nike Global Challenge Tourney. Arop is from Edmonton and is the leading scorer on a team comprised of Tristan Thompson, Junior Cadougan, Cory Joseph, Myck Kabongo. And Arop and another guy named Bol Kong will both be playing at Gonzaga this year. Throw in Kelly Olynyk and Rob Sacre, Gonzaga will have 4 Canadians on their roster next season.
