I guess that part of it is nice for basketball fans, but as someone who lives in downtown Toronto, i don't think i'd want the the extra insanity that comes along with a major 2 week long international sports event.

Plus the money could be MUCH better spent.

Yeah and you can imagine more road blockages, more traffic congestions because they have to do construction to prepare for the games, there's already enough stress and hassle in TO.
i don't know if higher property tax can occur here in such a small time by the government.

Man isn't TOronto like bankrupt. So how high will Toronto's Property Tax Rates go and what kind of new tax will we indure to pay for these games.

Also, I hear the Ti-Cats will get a new Stadium because of these games.

Lastly,

1976 Olympics = Montreal
1988 Winter Olympics = Calgary
2010 Winter Olympics = Vancouver
2015 Pan Am Games = Toronto

Way to go "Centre of the Universe" and besides what are the Pan Am games anyways I hear Toronto beat out Chile Nicargra and Haiti or something

Lima and Bogata I think
next stop Olympics

the projects that get built in the time frame were going to be built in the near future anyway, this just speeds up the process
and it might save money b/c these projects would cost more in the future due to inflation

and they should lower taxes...socialism

Well McGuity and Miller godda stop spending all the time. Inflation is a horrible excuse on why the projects would cost more. Inflation is something that is a constant. I say If they build a train from Union Station to Pearson Airport because of these games I'll shut up

It's Toronto and Hamilton will host the 2015 Pan-Am games. The City of Hamilton just received $50 million from The City of Toronto.

so they can build a new stadium that will after be for the ti-cats so they can create more revenues and beat the Argos.

This is all smelling like its a total loss for Toronto. Not that I really care about the Argos I know they have a fan base a little bigger than TFC
