Canada needs a Pro league. Canada has a ton of ballers but its unfortunate after their CIS or NCAA careers they usually dont' have a place to play. Some do go to Europe and a handful make it to the NBA but thats not enough. When a kid plays bball he has to have a hope that he can excell in the program.

Also, New Zealand have the All Blacks and All Whites both very successful programs in their own rights.

OK. so i am going through the Tall Blacks official website and looking at their results. they only show scores from 2009 and earlier, and it really isn't that impressive.

Lets see....
losses to Estonia,
win against portugal,
loss to italy,
loss to CANADA,
loss to Belgium,
win against Belgium,
loss to Finland,
loss to Autralia,
win against Australia.

I fail to see how they are good. They aren't BAD, but they're not good. Lithuania, Greece, Turkey, Brazil, France, etc. those countries are good internationally. I would call NZ OK at best.

and Hontoni, Canada has had some good results internationally in the past too. Yet, it's pretty typical to agree that Canada isn't good at the moment.

Dude i only showed you their successes in last competitions in the world. That numbers show us they are good tournament team. And they qualified again in World Championship in Turkey.

Lithuania, Greece, Turkey, Brazil, France, etc. are not good teams they are elite teams which play for medal.

I wouldn't call them elite. TO me that's USA, SPain, argentina (sure why not Greece) territory, but they are good teams. Like by good i expect them to win more than lose. New Zealand... not so much IMO.

China, Angola are mediocre teams
Germany,Puerto Rico are ok teams
Australia, New Zealand(For you Fancylad ) are good teams
Turkey, Serbia, Lithuania are elite teams
Greece, Spain, Argentina are best teams (They are bad now but i think they will be better )

Team Canada has never had a great coach. Nothing new there.

no we shouldn't be

the only loss that really bothers me was the first one against Lebanon,

Team Canada played hard every game

youngest team in the tournament

our best shooter was injured

once we get more seasoning and some of our new blood comes up where going to be stomping some of these teams

our pg play even though Anderson was decent at times isn't that good, Bell sucks

so right away we replace our PG play with Kabongo and C.Joseph, that makes our pg some of hte best in the world, if you look at most countries they don't have good PGs, add Pangos a year or two later on top of that looking good,

Tristan Thompson is a beast

Birch, Wiltjer coming up

plus the surprise guy I believe is Kelly Olynk, that guy can play, he has a great feel for the game, he can shoot it, has range

Any chances for Kelly Olynk to get drafted??? I mean the 3 games he played, he was the top scorer for Canada in 2 games.
+ He is 19 years old!

If I recall, they played the USA pretty tough at the last Olympics or a recent World championship...and know they almost medaled at one event in the past 4-5 years.

I saw them stomp Canada @ Wilfred Laurier back in 2002-2004, that was two nights after stomping them @ Western.

They beat Russia both games as well in Canada at the same time, and that was with Kirilenko.

Sean Marks was on those teams, but he didn't see any minutes as he was playing behind Pero Cameron.

They're a good team fancy, and their coach knows how to actually coach.

On a sidenote, if Steve Nash was playing, he would get Canada a medal without a doubt.

He was clearly the best international player in the world when he last played for Canada, IMO, he would still be at the top.

It's a shame he isn't playing, since the style of play in FIBA rewards skill more than the NBA imo.

He would shred every team in the tournament with the exception of the US.

We could have a pretty decent team if the players came together

PG - Nash/Anderson
SG- Rautins/Brown
SF - Trasolini/Kong
PF - Anthony/Olynyk
C -Dalambert/Kendall

Trasolini has been quite the work horse in the NCAA for Santa Clara. I don't know why he didn't make the squad. He's averaging 14ppg and 6+ rebounds for Santa Clara.
