Default The Worst Type of Fans in the World are ....

Ok with my pet peeve of the overhype of March Madness (which by the way I love the tourney) I want to make a list of what I believe are the worst type of fans in the world I'll start with:

1. The March College Fan. Hello? Conference Championships? Conference Regular Season? Out of Conf. Games? The NCAA is problably the most entertaining product of basketball IMHO and it shouldn't be sold short to just the tourney. Their is a reason why the Big East rules the roost and the likes of Duke are no longer big guys. Why? Read about and watch some games other than the March Madness Show. Also, don't pretend like your an expert if your leading in the bracket because its pretty much luck of the draw.

2. The Hockey Puck - To all "hockey pucks" hitting from behind is bad, a point for losing is idiotic and fighting is not a part of the game (hence why the clock is stopped). The hockey puck pisses me off so much this is all I shall write.

3. The "Glory Hunter" - Yes I"m talking to you Man U fans that became one as soon as Ronaldo was looking like a star, I'm talking to you Yankee fan from Windsor that has no business being a fan, I'm talking to you Barcelona fan that is from an Irish backround and CANADIAN. Like please give it up.

4. The "bandwagon jumper' - Hey all you guys fed of with BC and "not a fan anymore" stop reading this post because we don't want you here. This forum is for True basketball fans only get the hell out.

5. The "expert" - You know those guys that haven't watched an inch of basketball but tell you what the coach should be running. Or they give you a full scouting report on why Jose Calderon will be the best PG ever. Please give it up and just watch the game and learn something. Heck go to a House league and coach some kids and realize it ain't that easy to run a team.

6. My sport is better than every other sport fan - Don't you hate those fans that just knock soccer for diving and haven't watched a lick of the game. Or just continue to tramp on BBALL and say "oh just watch the last 2 minutes and its figured our" guy.

7. the worst fans are fans that judge other fans

Ok there are many other discriptions but every March Madness I go on a rampage and want to kill all these fans

Your thoughts?

Have a couple number fives living on my floor with me, exercising their "expertise" about the game of basketball... Actually pretty frustrating, not going to lie.

My mom is definitely a number six, except she bowls so I guess you could say she's just a dork...

Strongly disagree with #1. I have no time for College anything.... but the NCAA tourney is a great event. Same with the World Juniors for Hockey.

The rest are pretty much bang-on, though. My worst is the fairweather fans who cheer for the top dog.... the Glory Hunter as you call it. Espcially a Toronto native who is a Habs fan..... this is just wrong. How about some fuckin' loyalty????? I am struggling through this with my 7-year-old right now. He keeps trying to tell me that Detroit or San Jose (or whoever is at the top of the standings) is his "favourite" team..... and I have to keep telling him that Toronto is his favourite team. Drives me nuts.

I work with so many #2's. They're kinda combo's of 2 + 5. Hockey "experts". Meatheads.
I love to tell them how wrong they are about everything.
.................................................. .....................I guess that kinda makes me a 5/6.

Soccer fans are definitely the worst when in comes to #6. So annoying. They can't see any fault in the game.

the worst type of fan is one that would make his children cheer for the leafs

my pops is a habs fan, brother a leafs fan and myself, an oilers fan. each one of us jumped on the bandwagon, yet we're all still loyal to our teams.

I was habs fan growing up, and a mets fan. I could care less about the Jays or Leafs and often cheered against them. It probably had something to do with wanting to be different.

I root for the home teams now though.

Number 6 pisses me off the most.

Did you grow up in an NHL city, though?

The hockey puck annoys me the most.... probably because the local media is swimming with them and it seems like that's all i see and hear when i turn on the Tv or listen to the radio.

I would consider them to be neutral territory, even if there is a propensity for leaf fandom. The fact that you moved around makes it even harder for you to develop any sort of bond with a city.

I am born and raised in Toronto. The reason my son has to be a leafs fan first is because Toronto is our home. We cheer for Toronto.

It is very similar to how I feel about Canada.... when Canada is competing internationally, I cheer for Canada/Canadians, whether they are the best team/athlete or not.

i don't agree. i became an oilers fan because of messier, gretzky, kurri, coffey, fuhr and anderson. it had nothing to do with a bond with a city simply because i would be too young to understand the concept of that. i cheered for the best team, the other kids cheered for the leafs most likely because of the parents influence on their children and exposure to local coverage and hockey night in canada. i'm not sure if you've been to st.catharines, but they're toronto loyalist - newfoundland even more.

I'm a sports fan first and foremost. Growing up, I cheered for the hometown teams - Leafs, Jays, Bills. I was a Knicks fan because they showed a lot of games on the tele on Sundays and I grew to be a Man United fan when they were showing their games on the sports channels in mid-late 90s. But as time went on, I started cheering for my new teams - The Rangers in the NHL (started in 1991), the Yankees in baseball (in 1993), the Ravens (1997) in football. However, the hometown teams still hold a place in my heart.

Ya well as a Leaf fan I had a playoff team in the 80s because the leafs were such filth
