Generally i don't hate subways. But personally everytime i've been on one i've disliked it. Maybe because it's been during rush hour times and it was like a bunch of tightly packed sardines.

I've always enjoyed the subway. I especially enjoyed the late-night ride home after visiting the woman who would ruin my life when we first met and she was at York U.

Although, I must say, I was on it in August and it was quite dirty and messy. I don't ever remember it being that way.

I'm sure if it's mostly empty it's ok. But when i've been on the subway i've had horrible experiences.

NOW magazine's been getting quite a bit of flack over their most recent issue, which features a scathing article by Enzo DiMatteo, and some rather childish, photoshopped images of the mayor of Toronto, which I'm sure you've all seen in the form of post-count-hero, jeffb's avatar.

Thoughts? Has the left finally lost it?

it's a good article, and an important point. the photos are funny, really just a little tease. the fact that he went ballistic and banned now magazine from city hall just shows the kind of loudmouth he is.

and to be fair, he's receiving just as much, if not more, flak for his reaction as now is for publishing it.

it's a non-issue.

I'm not from Toronto but I still found the article interesting. Although, when it comes to the photos, I think they might have gone too far. If I was an employee of Now, I wouldn't have been cool with that.

Both the "left" and the "right" have their share of d-bags. Always have and probably always will.

I think NOW did a fantastic job, I bet their readership percentage shot through the roof with that cover. So if you were a writer I am sure you would have been cool with it. Those Photos aren't so much politically motivated as they are financially.

If I was Ford though I would be far more worried about his transit plan being called racist in today's Star.

I'd be interested to know. Yesterday the story made the national news (can't remember if it was CBC or CTV) and a number of the people on the street said it was distasteful. It's difficult to guage anything meaningful from that, though, since it was obviously a small sample.

Don't tell me what I'm cool with...haha

I know that the editorial board debated this, although I don't know what their specific concerns were about. If it was me, I'd feel somewhat uncomfortable making a joke out of fatness. Don't assume that I'd do anything for wider readership. You could argue that that would make me an uncesscessful editor. I have no plans on going into that business.

You could be right. I think that's definitely possible. Or a little of both.

Heard Bob McCowan talking about meeting him at some kind of get together over the weekend. Instead of shaking hands and being introduced, Ford held a stack of business cards and passed them out without making any contact with anyone.

did anyone else hear about the cost of canceling transit city being millions a couple days ago on cbc? i think its downright outrageous to cancel the program, lose millions, and instead go make underground subways which cost substantially more and take a much longer time to finish. ABSURD

that was at the home opener in the large Rogers box
McCowan didn't come right out and say it but he hinted at the fact that he thought Ford was an idiot
