Why because of Nietzsche?

I'm not an expert on Nietzsche but I couldn't agree more with the final part of his post:

T-Mac is a fucking champ if you ask me, Darfur is a great cause to bring attention to.

that part of the post is fine - perhaps even to be lauded, but you can't go around trying to show off by referencing philosophers, doing so incorrectly, and then call everyone else an idiot.

I'm all for charities and helping Darfur but there is a lot of oversight and bureaucracy when it comes to such things. I want to know how much of that money actually gets to the victims?

And I believe that there are no selfless good deeds. Even if you feel great for helping, ultimately you return to feel the same way again. For example, I had to volunteer 90 hours for probation. At first it sucked, but there were definite benefits in going. I made a few friends, met a lot of interesting and thoughtful people, got to know my community more, and I really did feel better about myself after coming home. Plus there is nothing more attractive to compassionate girls than telling them how I just rode an hour on a subway to read bedtime stores to underprivileged kids in the Bronx.

After I was done with my 90 hours, I continued to go back to one volunteering event because I really liked the kids there. Yea, I got a lot out of it, in terms of connections, experience, and general feelings of being humanitarian, but I doubt anybody is complaining.

Careful.

I might know a great deal more about the subject than you think.

Not all humour I use is meant for the masses "Trane".

FN is known for a great deal of different things, and the one small aspect I was refereencing you most likely forgot or don't know, so to be honest, I don't mind you blathering on about how ignorant I might be, it's ok, I just wanted you to know that I know exactly what I'm saying here. I'm just smarter than you....

spell it out for me then sj... as far as i know, neitzsche's take on chairty and the general uplifting of the weak is that it's basically just a waste of time, and certainly not relevant to the main thrusts of his philosophy, especially vis-a-vis the superman. if you can explain a causal link within fn's worldview that encompasses the value of charity and makes those two statements in your post compatible, i'll cede, no problem.

but it looked to me that you were referencing fn in one context and then disregarding that same point in your next sentence.

here's a quote by hl mencken on neitzsche's philosophy that pretty much fully supports what cling was saying:

"that the lifting up of the weak, in the long run, is an unprofitable and useless business is evident on very brief reflection. philanthropy, considered largely, is inevitably a failure. now and then we may transform an individual pauper or drunkard into a useful, producing citizen, but this happens very seldom. nothing is more patent, indeed, than the fact that charity merely converts the unfit - who, in the course of nature, would soon die out and cease to encumber the earth - into parasites - who live on indefinitely, a nuisance and a burden to their betters."

and you can't forget this one from fn himself: "if a little charity is not forgotten, it turns into a gnawing worm. "

moreover, for fn, charity is a great levelling action, and that's never something he stands for. the strong should be promoted, and the weak left to care for themselves.

but i could be wrong, and i'll happily admit it if you show me how.

Honestly, who gives a flying fadoo about whether T-Mac opened his pocket books selfishly or not? Do we care more about T-Mac's motives or do we care more about the awful shit that's going down in Darfur? It should be the latter, but some of the people in this thread are making me wonder.

We need to be happy that Darfur is getting help in any way it can, regardless of who's helping and why they're doing it. Shit, guys.

I think he should lose sleep over knocking up an usher and leaving her high and dry for 4 years untill she threatened a lawsuit, and now he just pays her to shut up. Sounds like selfish prick to me.

As long as the money goes to the right hands, and promotion on the issue becomes more popular, nobody should really give a shit about the person's personality. Michael Jackson donated millions of dollars to a children's burn hospital when people still thought he was a molester.

And who the fuck changed the title? seriously. that's not cool.

he probably thinks that when wears the number 3 when he enters a game, people will think about the situation about Darfur a little bit deeper.
