I don't see how ZBo does the exact same thing as Bosh just because they have similar numbers. To me that's a great example as to the uselessness of numbers ultimately.

And who cares what Eddie House amounts to as an individual player? That means so little in a team game. All individual stats lose their value in that respect. Stuff like +/- for groups of players works, but they can be parsed for days. Watching and knowing what you're seeing - there's no replacement for that.

Okay, dissect Shane Battier using stats then.

Outside of top 20 in every single catagory related to defense.

Defensive rating of 105.

His worst season since 2002-2003

Although for some reason he was voted in by writers as a second team all nba defense.

O.K.

But It was voted on by coaches I guess, dosnt really matter there were a good few, better, defensive players above him(namely Odom and Wallace). And the NBA still puts his name on the ballot.

Thing about Battier is that.. people might shoot 22 points and 40% against him... but he gaurds kobe bryant and brandon roy.

Nash might hold Fisher to 10 points on 30% shooting.. but those stats dont make him a better defender.

Battier is so good. Rockets pushed lakers to 7!

I think that Artest, Scola and the rest of the rockets had more to do with it than just battier alone.

Besides I saw Battier guarding Odom and Ariza and saw Artest Guarding Kobe that series.

That's simply bizarre. There have been very few defensive performances that could match Battier guarding Kobe in that series, and you apparently missed it.
