Ok...try to watch the whole thing...its uncomfortable and bad on so many levels.....someone should go to prison. Or am I missing something on a cultural level? I'm seriously disgusted. |

have you seen the documentary called rize? it's a pretty cool, but you see these little kids dancing and it's disturbing seeing the way some of these children move their bodies. there's nothing cultural about children moving their bodies sexually. just dancing? ummm no.

I was wondering the other day if DeRozan was into any of that stuff in Rize, since it was the right timeframe and location. Or maybe he was just a little too young and it died out quickly.
I don't get adults doing this shit, but it's huge in Jamaica and maybe elsewhere. It is a big part of the culture, and again I don't get it. It seems really demeaning to women, but then Carnival seemed that way to me at first. You get kids acting in what we think of as a sexual nature in that as well. I can't totally trust my instincts on it, because I know I'm part of a totally repressed culture. |

Wow..... I want to not judge and try to just accept that every culture views things differently..... but every single cell in my body was screaming that this is wrong. Where do you draw the line?

This is not a cultural thing. Yeah latino countries tend to be more sexual but this is not normal. Those kids are not even 10 years old. Let them be kids for a little longer.

To make a comment whereby you project that group of children and the two irresponsible supervisors across an entire culture is simply wrong. The video is a bunch of kids mimicking what they see on TV, and two idiot adults laughing at it instead of doing what they should be doing. It would be the same thing to bring up a clip of some 12 year old rich white girls dressed up like Britney Spears with their G-strings showing outside their low rise jeans, and saying, "that's White American culture." |

The stuff they will do only a few years later is more freaky to me, and it is entirely cultural. You don't see shit like crunking anywhere else do you? You'll see teenage girls getting tossed around and double-teamed with all kinds of imitations of rough sex that doesn't even resemble dancing. I find that more disturbing. This seems much closer to what I did as a kid in school dances when it came to slow dances, which also had adults in attendance.

When I say its not a cultural thing, I mean to say that its an extreme aberration of its own culture and most or at least many of the people of their culture would also find it disturbing like us.

Seeing those little Jon Bennets are far more disturbing than seeing kids dance in a way that may or may not be sexual in nature.
These are kids of the MTV generation and this style of dance is now considered on par with what a waltz was 100 years ago. But seeing those little kids being made to look adult is an incredibly disturbing thing to me. |

Have to agree with the snooch there. I was thinking about something else when I said crunking. The stuff they do on the streets in Jamaica to crazy music that's basically just noise - I know it's related to crunk, but it's got a different name that escapes me now, and it's insanely sexual.

Yeah - well this is like seeing a public sex show but without the nudity. It's more simulated sex than any kind of dance, and kids are getting into rough sex there as a result of it, with cases of injuries from sex acts, to men and women, on a sharp incline.
