Kinda makes you laugh when you think about how the powers that be were trying to convince us that paying $1.30 was perfectly justified.
I'll never understand why Canada and the US haven't led the charge to develop alternate methods of fuel so that they shed their dependency on other countries for oil.
Solar power... wind power... gas/electric hybrids... all these things could have been developed 20-30 years ago I'm sure.
They're not trying to justify it. They jack the prices up, then people get all up in arms, almost to the breaking point, and then they drop them. We're all relieved and think, "Oh, gas is so cheap now!" and then, after a few weeks, they crank it up again. And on and on and on.
