i live in a 1 bedroom basement suit...but my landlord is like family...so i am up in there living room all the time....and have to go through their kitchen and living room to get in and out of the house....but now their daughter has got the h1n1 virus....i just found out like 5 mins ago....and now iam like all paranoid ....should i get the vaccination? or can i even get the vaccination?...pregnant women and little children have higher priorities and from what i have herd i cant get it for at least the middle of next month....and i have to go through their living area and i know shes made contact with like everything there...what do i do?

Torontosaurus 10-26-2009 11:15 PM

First off, stop panicking..

It doesn't mean you'll definitely catch it, just take usual precautions and don't hang out with them for awhile.

Gurk 10-26-2009 11:17 PM

DOn't get out of your basement. Camp in there until she is better

Byt seriously no need to panic it's not the end of the worls as 'saurus said stay away from them. Don't go near the gril at all and make sure you don't use any of the dishes the girls used

Bmats7 10-26-2009 11:38 PM

avoid touching your lips/ears, avoid rubbing your eyes. wash your hands more often or use alcohol hand sanitizer.

VanCity 10-26-2009 11:49 PM

ya...iam gonna have to buy a big thing of sanitizer tomorrow...:sigh:...and hope i dont get it.....

zachus 10-27-2009 01:24 AM

Total swine flu deaths haven't even reached the number the common flu kills on a daily basis. Keep your hands clean, keep some hand sanitizer in your back pocket and most of all keep your hands away from your face.

I thought it has a 3 foot radius. I guess I was wrong.

It's not about how many it's killed compared to the common flu, it's who it's killing. Common flu rarely kills a healthy, 30 year old, whereas H1N1 has been.

My girlfriend got the shot yesterday. They won't turn you away if you go in.

Windex 10-27-2009 09:25 AM

there is also a nasal spray if you don't want the shot

1) Have you had any contact with the daughter upstairs? Please explain contact in absolute detail. Provide pics if necessary....unless she is under 18 of course.

logicz 10-27-2009 06:56 PM

Torontosaurus 10-27-2009 10:47 PM

I don't know if its true, but "they" are saying that anyone who has flu right now has the h1n1 virus... that however, sounds a bit like bs to me

lumi398 11-05-2009 06:37 PM

No need to be scared, if you have any flu symptoms and go to the doctor, they won't even do any tests on you, they will just assume you have swine flu. She probably has some other illness but of course they tell the doctors that it HAS to be swine flu for certain reasons.

Just read this. How are you feeling now? Cold, fever, anything?

DVS 11-06-2009 09:38 AM

The HINI vaccine takes 8 days or so to kick into your system. So if you get it its just for future use not for this present problem.

I just suggest you treat it like avoiding the flu. Sleep well, exercise and keep yourself clean and away from anyone holding the virus.
