'trane 05-31-2010 10:40 PM

Febreezy 05-31-2010 10:42 PM

Thats what I was thinking but I think he meant athletes when he said "these people"...or at least I hope.

dfunkie1 05-31-2010 10:45 PM

to me, he was talking about athletes. the youtube guy wants you to think race.

'trane 05-31-2010 10:46 PM

still a hugely douchy thing to say.

dfunkie1 05-31-2010 10:49 PM

no doubt. the youtube guy deserves the wooden spoon, though.

'trane 05-31-2010 10:51 PM

not necessarily funk. the guy's just raising a question, and chaffetz left himself wide open there.

re: your first question

What do you think? I'm genuinely curious.

re: your second question

Either way, he is full of fail. Kobe is fluent in multiple languages and very well spoken. He is probably more intelligent than numerous athletes, regardless of colour or any of that other petty shit. That's part of what I find so hillarious (in a bad way). I mean, I'd guess that Kobe would be more likely to name his representative than Pao Gasol (since he isn't even from the US). But, of course, Pao's name wouldn't resonate with the base of the Republican party. He could have also picked a baseball player. Baseball is arguably more popular than basketball in the US. Instead, he picked a "black" athlete who allegedly raped a white woman. It all just seems a little suspicious, especially when placed in the context of the language used.

Exactly. Further reason to think this guy is a clown.

'trane 05-31-2010 11:07 PM

Yeah, I actually watched a longer clip on a different channel, and I think Chaffetz is just a douche. He meant athletes.

Belsius 06-01-2010 07:01 AM

As much of a douchbag Kobe is, he is probably one of the most "cultured" athletes out there. And Im pretty sure the other douchebag was refereeng to athletes.

"These people" is meant to be interpreted as you see fit. Some racist people will immediately think black people, and typically a Republican will be more than happy if that is the case. Others will think liberal elite athletes, not just athletes. Others might think liberal elite Californians. Whatever the case, the term is purposefully used so that people can shade it in with their own biases and venom. In this case it's not especially effective. He might have had me if he just said that if he saw one more knob wearing a Kobe jersey outside of LA getting TV time he might puke. Or question whether Doug Collins really needs to reach orgasm every time the guy makes a shot. Kobe provides instant disgust in enough people just by being Kobe, or the Kobester.

krillog 06-01-2010 10:59 PM

Kobe speaks Italian and I think a bit of Spanish as well.
That is two more languages than most people in the world and probably this congressman...

OMG.
He's from Utah, of course he's a loser. That's why residents in Utah has the highest percentage of depression because people there are losers.

There was this guy back home (Philippines) told me I can't be his friend anymore because I'm not a Mormon (and he's an effing brown Filipino like myself) because that's what their "brothers" from Utah said.

one mormon left me a hand written letter today at my front door. Very well written I thought it was nice. You know you don't get handwritten letters anymore these days.
