Romney is a joke. He was only made candidate (with huge money spent I might add) so that Ron Paul didn't have a chance. Its sad when both parties actually support Obama.
Ron Paul would beat Obama hands down

:sigh:

I actually don't think his comments are too wrong, they're just so easily twisted into whatever negative light they need to be twisted in.

He's right, 47% will just straight up vote for their candidate, he even implied that he didn't need to work on HIS 47% of the voters as those votes are also already locked up. He just has to win over the 5-10% of people are aren't completely brainwashed into only voting for whoever party X has in charge as they're the only party they can vote for.

The healthcare thing was also so badly twisted that it's not worth getting into.

Now also, don't get me wrong here, I actually don't give a shit about American politics, mostly I was amused how easily generic comments can be twisted to being made as evil as possible.

Also in the 2nd video, he specifically states that 200 to 250 AND LOWER are what he considers the middle class in the US. Which is also pretty accurate. Do people not know about the 'upper-middle class' that typically makes up 100-250k earnings? That's still middle class.
Americans are so easy to pick away at anything that they can twist, it's rather sickening.

Saying that half the country feel ENTITLED , pay no taxes. He then went on to say in that second video that if he was born in Mexico he'd have a better shot at the presidency. He's an idiot. He's also wrong about 47% not paying taxes. They don't pay federal taxes but they pay other taxes, payroll tax, property tax etc...nearly 30% oout of the 47% are elderly and are mostly living off their pension.

He doesn't say that.
You can connect the dots if you want to hate on him though.

I agree he seems pretty dumb in how he plans is thoughts however.

I'm sorry but even the upper middle class tops out at 150 k. 250 k is just absurd to consider middle class when the average american makes what, 50k/year??

Didn't say what? The mexico comment?

"My father was born in Mexico, and had he been born of uh, mexican parents i'd have a better shot at this. But unfortunatley he was born to americans living in mexico. He lived there for a number of years and uh, i say this jokingly but it would be helpful to be Latino."

Shadowfax 09-18-2012 11:08 AM

in my books, the man has revealed himself to be a complete douchebag

Benzo 09-18-2012 11:29 AM

If it is a fact that 47% of Americans DONT pay taxes...he is absolutely right. He chose his words poorly "I dont have to worry about these people", when he meant to say "I cant worry about getting their vote during the election" which is true.

Dumb yes.....right....probably

The problem is out of those 47%:

-15% of them are on food stamps (poor), some on welfare so are just very low income and only pay payroll taxes
-18% are on medicade, are mostly retired, elderly people who have already payed into federal taxes and are now on pensions (you don't pay federal tax on your pensions)
- 10% are the working poor who do pay certain taxes (payroll, property), just not federal taxes
- The rest are children and students

The funny thing is that 18% of the 47 are mostly elderly people that tend to vote republican. Yet he lumps them in as Obama supporters and may have just pissed them off.

Per person, 150k, per household 250k, did he specify on either? No.
Can we assume either? No.

250k is upper middle class for household income in my books.

Nothing about the mexican comment, I know he said that.
He didn't say 47% of people don't pay taxes.
He said there are people in that bracket that didn't pay taxes, and should put some effort into improving their way of life (He also DIDN'T IMPLY anyone on medical need should be attempting to get out there and work, but the video just babbled on about all 47% on medicare can't work blah blah blah).

The biggest problem for him here is that he was needlessly vitriolic about a large swathe of people in suggesting they have no interest in making anything of themselves. But really I would say his true intent was simply to start supplying excuses for his own fucking miserable failure of a campaign. I find his constant lying much more offensive, particularly the huge lie about Obama gutting welfare reform in which he uses all the coded stereotypes of black people feeding off the system. That shit is disgusting. That and all the voter suppression that should assure him of a win are just disgusting. And it hasn't worked, or rather he has fucked up every single advantage handed to him coming into the race. But then he had the terrible disadvantage of needing to keep a political base that is horribly out of touch with reality and terribly intolerant (see any of the Republican debates), and now it is that base that he needs to feed these dumb excuses to.

Only 5% of households in the US have an annual salary of over ~$165,000.

Yeah, but that's upper middle class. :haha:

LX 09-18-2012 12:38 PM

When you consider that .1 percent of the population holds the bulk of the wealth, being among the top 5 percent might understandably be thought of as being somewhere in the middle.

the comments about palestine from the same talk were worse. dude is a train wreck.
